Hoganman1 124
I had to make some changes after trying my friend's new fairway woods. I traded the TM 2017 M2 three and five for Callaway Mavirk Max three and five woods. I also swapped out my Odyssey White Hot Tour #1 putter for an old White Steel #1 I had in my garage. The Mizuno JPX 850 irons, the Ping G400 driver and the Cleveland CG 15 56* are still in the bag (for now). Also sometimes throw a King LTD 3w w/Black Tie 8m3 between driver and 2h, and swap out the SW/LW for a 58*, either a Wilson Staff PMP or Ram Watson 82 Commemorative nickel. Adding an update or three.... Experimented at the end of season with an Original One. I like it a lot. It's in the bag. And... It became more apparent after my Classic Round, maybe so glaringly obvious even I could notice, that I need to follow the Tao of @chisag and @RI_Redneck and play graphite shafts in my irons. I've got a set of RIP Tour 115 regular that I'll be putting in a set of Rams, if I can pick a set of Rams. Or maybe I'll really cross myself up and toss them into my set of MS-11s. And, I picked up a set of Recoil Proto 125 to put in my MP-37s. I scored a 2 iron for the MP-37s, will be picking up a shaft for that, also. May not always play it, but I really like the 2 iron as an option. If I rig a classic set with graphite, I may set up a 56* SW for classic rounds. For the MP37s, I'll have a 58* wedge, likely a PM Grind, to companion with the Scratch 53* that will plug the GW slot. Viper Tour putter has been refitted with a black putter shaft and Ping blackout grip, and cut to a fraction short of 34", in part because I've switched back to True Linkswear shoes and now stand a little closer to the ground. Hoganman1 124
Well, it's almost Winter here in NC. I know you guys in the North have no sympathy for us in the South. However, it's time to go to my "Winter Bag". I'm replacing my Mizuno JPX 850 forged irons (4-GW) with my Taylormade 2017 M2 HL irons (4-AW). Since I'm not playing or practicing as much I find the M2s a little easier to play when it's colder. They don't feel as good as the Mizunos, but the stronger lofts help too. I did this last year and it worked fairly well. I'll play the same driver (Ping G400), fairways (Callaway Mavrik Max 3&5) and sand wedge (Cleveland CG15 56*). I'll also go with the Titleist AVX versus the ProV1. It seems to perform better for me when it's cold. As always my trusty Odyssey White Hot Tour putter will stay right where it's been for a decade. 4 Quote Drive for Show; Putt for Dough

I've made a couple changes since the above. Driver is now TaylorMade Original One 11.5*, currently with RIP Alpha 80 X at 43.5". I'm tuning this down as low as I can, which is 10* with this adapter. 3w - Cobra King LTD 14.5* w/Black Tie 8m3 X at 42" 2-PW Mizuno MP-37s with Recoil Proto 125 F4 (reshaft project for winter) GW - Scratch 8620 53* DS, Steelfiber i125 S SW - Callaway PM Grind 19 58* Putter - Snake Eyes Viper Tour Sv1, 33.75", Ping blackout grip Have an NV105 Xstiff shaft I might assemble with a 2* adapter for the Original One. Also toying with dropping the 3w, which really gets little use, and replacing that with a 2h. May get a Ping G410 for that, like what I'm hearing about them. An alternative for the irons and GW.... replacing them with 1-PW Golden Ram Vibration Matched Tour Grinds with RIP Tour 115 R. The rest of the bag remains the same. The lofts would be pretty similar to the 2-GW MP37/Scratch setup, maybe 1* stronger in spots. Ball will be either the TM TP5 or the Wilson Staff Duo Professional. Really like the Duo Pro, it's *so* stable in winds, and gives me a lower trajectory. It helps moderate my higher trajectory a bit. Who knows, it might change before I can actually play again. Hoganman1 124
Well, I had a little set back that will keep me from playing this week, but hope to be back mid-next week. When I return I'm going to try an experiment with my irons. Instead of switching over the entire set from my Mizuno JPX 850 forged to my Taylormade 2017 M2s I'm just going to change the 4,5 and 6 irons. I may have a gap since the M2s have stronger lofts, but maybe not. I'm hoping this will improve my long iron shots while the weather is cold. I'm still fine playing the 7-GW of the Mizunos. Does anyone else play a split set? I know a lot of people play hybrids for long irons. However, I've never met a hybrid I liked. Hoganman1 124
Well, the new set up is working pretty well and there isn't much of a distance gap between my TM M2 six iron and my JPX 850 forged seven iron. I'll stick with this through the Winter. Also, I've been playing a Callaway SuperSoft ball instead of the Pro-V-1. The Cally is a little longer off the tee when it's cold and adjusting to the run out on chips hasn't been that hard. I'm still curious if anyone else plays a split set of irons versus hybrids.
