Z-Star 6 or Z-Star XV 6

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I tried out both types of Z-Stars and I wanted to get some insight on which ball would be best for me. IMG_1959.JPG

The iron (top numbers) is the Z-Star 6

The Hybrid (bottom numbers) is the XV 6

Thanks in advance to everyone who respond!

You really can't make an accurate choice with this data. To make a decision based on data you would want to get data for the same clubs for both balls. Driver, mid-range, and short range. And then there's just pure feel, I just gave a dozen new balls away just because I didn't like the feel when I made contact.

Chris nailed it. You aren’t comparing apples to apples with each ball.

Now that you have a decent comparison, a lot of this depends on what you are looking to see on course. You are more consistent (standard deviation is lower) with the Z Star, likely from the lower spin rate. In my opinion if your ok with a little less stopping power, the Z star will be a good fit, however, If you prefer the higher spin and sacrifice some/moderate levels of consistency you can go with the XV. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the reply! I played a few rounds with the regular Z-Star and I am definitely digging it! You are absolutely right when it comes to consistency especially in the wind. I also felt that my approaches into the green arent compromised in regards to the spin produced from the Z-Star. Its more a two hop stop rather than on bounce stop with the XV. Also the feel is what sold me on the Z-Star! I understand the XV is a firmer ball but I just love how soft it feels off the driver, irons, and putter! Thanks very much for your input!
