White Belt?

... Keeping up with fashion is a fools errand. I would not quite call it a scam, but the pants cuffs are IN but now OUT and wait back IN again quite a few times over the years. That said we all like to look good, but personal fashion of course is highly subjective. Find what works for you and stick with it. Brown and Black belts will always work with just about any colors but if you like a white belt, have at it. I think "fashion" that has lasted through the test off time is always a good choice. Bell bottoms, frayed pants leg bottoms, collar up on a polo are all casualties of fashion that never should have been. On the other hand blue jeans, khaki pants, comfortable polo's and black/brown belts are still great choices.

LOL! This thread is great. I currently don’t have a white belt, but I’m 39 and my waist is below 39 ... sooo, am I okay? 

I’ve always thought that white belts/pants/shorts can ONLY be worn between Memorial Day and Labor Day ... does that still apply?

The last time I wore a White Belt was back in the 60's. At the time they were called Mod Belts. Kind of wide too. Here's one for you fashion guys. I sometimes wear a light brown/tan western style belt. LOL It's mid-width I guess. One of those hand-tooled types but with a regular style buckle - not one of those giant rodeo buckles. LOL Surprisingly I've had quite a few complements.  And I'm not even a cowboy!

That's old news. It was for women's fashion anyway. Short history lesson. Started in the 30's and if you were a woman and wore white between Memorial Day and Labor Day you were considered upper class. Others wore darker colors signifying working class. 

You can wear what you want. So now you can pretend you are rich all year long.

I used to wear it until it didn't fit. When I get back to a 36 waist it's coming back.

My feeling has always been, your belt needs to match your shoes. If your wearing black shoes, wear a black belt, brown shoes, brown belt, and so on. The more classic saddle style golf shoes that are white with black or brown leather could go either way but I usually match my belt to the saddle color. All white, or predominantly white shoes, wear a white belt.
That said, golf is the only occasion that I would ever wear a white belt, in fact I only own one white belt and it is exclusively for golf when I’m wearing white shoes.
