Another chance to watch some live golf this weekend, I'll take whatever I can get at this point.

 

Capital One’s The Match: Champions for Charity takes place on Sunday, May 24 from Medalist Golf Club. It will feature Tiger Woods and former NFL QB Peyton Manning vs. Phil Mickelson and current NFL QB Tom Brady. The event will benefit COVID-19 relief efforts.

HOW TO FOLLOW

● Sunday, May 24. Live TV coverage begins at 3 p.m. ET

● Television Broadcast: TNT, TBS, truTV, HLN, HLN in Canada, CNN International

● Format: Four-Ball (Best Ball) format on the front nine and a Modified Alternate Shot format on the back nine, where each participant will tee off and then the team will play alternate shot from the selected drive. The unique combination of formats is aimed to provide an entertaining mix of strategy, team collaboration and consequence to nearly every shot. As part of the competitive play, there will also be a set of on-course challenges to raise additional charitable funds.

His MAVRIK Driver

Phil is using a new MAVRIK Sub Zero Driver (9*), and he first put it in play back in January. Mickelson likes how much he can control the new driver on different types of shots – he’s added more control shots with MAVRIK Sub Zero in addition to his “bomb” swing which he uses to hit his longest drives. He also likes the launch and spin that he gets from this model.

Phil co-created these wedges with Callaway Chief Designer Roger Cleveland. They specifically worked on improvements to the PM Grind that make it easier to hit three essential shots Phil thinks every golfer needs:

 

1)    The Knockdown -- a low-flying, high-spinning shot ideal for attacking the pin.

2)    The Hit & Check – a short pitch that bounces twice and stops.

3)    The “Phlop” – the high-flying, steep-landing, fast-stopping greenside shot Phil made famous.
