Is this Scotty Cameron a fake or real?

I purchased this and it is being delivered so I am wanting to confirm if it is real. (I know I should have posted this before buying it).

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Fake. The first "a" in California is completely outside the lighter circle on a real Cameron. From SC website:

I found this photo from this website 2012 that had leaked photos before the release,  the "a" touches the circle like mine, I guess I am still holding hope it is real.

Haha thanks. It has me looking at a ton of photos now. I will know more when it arrives. Thanks for the feedback though. Appreciate your input.

I think you are fine. The weights look legit and based in the 20g the length should be 34”. Most fakes can get caught with the weights and the face milling and both are correct for this putter. Another area to check is the cherry dots on the back (which I could not see) as this is an area that counterfeiters skimp on or don’t get right. The font and lettering is correct as well which is another sign for fakes, in most of Asia it is acceptable to sell something as a “copy” as long as it is not identical and marketed as such.

This was also not a very popular line for Scotty so not a high chance of fakes. The grip was not the original grip with the model but was available at the time and what my MOTO Del Mar came with as ordered.

Best thing to consider when buying any high end putter, if the price is too good then you are missing something.

Thank you very much for your detailed feedback and input. When it arrives on Monday I think the cherry dots will be the determining factor. I really love the style of this putter and it will be my lifer. Can't wait to use it. 

I paid on the high end of the PGA value guide, $270 (which included shipping). Was just wanting to check and was hoping I didn't get ripped off as this is my first SC putter. Thanks again!

Look on the bright side.  If it is fake, at least you shouldn't find any difference with its performance characteristics.  Hope it works out well for you though.  I just couldn't bring myself to spend $270 on a used putter.

That does not always work. A good counterfeit will have an authentic serial number that generally will match the model from the real Scotty. There was a guy years ago hawking fakes all over the web and got busted when Cameron’s shop got like 30 calls for the same serial number from about 30 different people.

It looks good, if I were you, I'd contact Scotty Cameron, or Titleist sales rep in your area and try to see if you can find out if it's authentic, and ask Titleist for a certificate of authenticity.

Scotty will give you a COA once you send in the putter and pay for it. Authentication is $75 plus shipping both ways so for a retail OTR putter it is not worth the cost. I have several dozen Cameron putters and the only ones that have a COA are my Circle Ts.

A tell tell sign is the grip. Fakes usually have a more rigid feel and the clue used is very strong. The ole sniff test ;

The fact that this could be a fake is just crazy to me.  It looks absolutely real to me from the milling down to the stamping, but counterfeit equipment has such great looks now a days, it takes such a detailed eye to notice anything.

It has gotten to the point that you have to compare the potential fake to a known real one to notice differences.
