Firebird
We play in a Wednesday comp at a Public Course here is Melbourne Aussie called Waterford Valley. And all I can say is thank god that we do not play off Black that often. Why..... The 6th hole - 608M (668yds) with water down the left. Even off blue is can be 550M (600+). tony@CIC and GolfSpy_SHARK 2 Quote Callaway Epic Flash 9 Degree Callaway Epic Flash 3 wood 15 Degree Callaway Apex 21 Hybrid 19 Degree Callaway Steelhead Pro 4-AW Irons Cleveland 54 Degree Wedge Steel Shaft Recoil Graphite Shafts in all Callaway Cobra Vintage Series Stingray 40 Preferred ball - Seed 001 Link to comment
Titleist87
Not regularly now but in my youth this hole always gave me fits. Plays to 615 yards but a little shorter if you cut corners. Whenever I hear of long holes in a discussion, my mind always goes back to this hole. Wondergiulio
It is not a par 5, but Bethpage Black number 10 is just a beast. Tie with it is Bethpage Red opening hole. both holes are almost impossible to hit Green in 2. And the 10th of the Black measure almost 500yds... crazy.... DaveP043
Talamore in Pinehurst starts you out gently, with a par 5 that measures 560 yards from the White tees, 609 from the Blue, and 623 from the back tees. And the fairway ends, at a point where I can often drive it over the hill, leaving me with a downhill lie form light rough over or around a Penalty Area. I usually play the Blue tees there. TCUfrog
My home course has medium length par 5's, but has 3 very uphill par 4's that play from the yardage at 430 yards from the blues, but in reality play anywhere from 470-500 yards. The longest hole on the course though is a 235 uphill par 3, 11th. If the pin is back left, it plays 250 and is a firm 3 wood. tony@CIC
Our #7 is 590 from the Blues and 550 from the whites. Ladies get a break at 439 but the disadvantage for them is that it puts the water on the left in play. Bunkers everywhere on the fairway and like sentinels, they guard the uphill green. GolfSpy BOS
The par 5 16th at Shining Rock is a beast. Even if you're a long hitter you have an approach to a narrowing green with woods/bunkers left and steep fall-offs to the rear and right. The 19th Hole
I have 2 that immediately come to mind: 1) Par 5 8th at Bayonet Golf course in Seaside, CA. 618 yards. That said, it plays a little downhill on the tee shot so if you really catch it, I have gotten home in 2, but not often. 2) Par 5 16th at Monarch Bay Golf Links in San Leandro, CA. This hole measures 598 yards, plays uphill, and is into a strong wing 95% of the time. I have NEVER gotten even close in 2. *Honorable Mention also at Monarch Bay is hole hole #7 which is an uphill into the wind par 3 standing @ 244 yards. My friend and I played there one day and both hit 3 woods because our ego would not let us hit driver into a par 3...we were both short... Kenny B
The first par 5 at my course is #5 usually plays 550y for me... 590y from the tips. AND it plays into the prevailing winds that is typically 10-30mph. It's a tough par for a short hitter like me, but I have birdied it twice this year so far. toehold57
We play at Antler Creek (https://www.antlercreekgolf.com) on a semi-regular basis. It’s a long, long track if you play from the tips, 8058 yards. Yikes! No, we don’t even think about it. Blues are bad enough at 7000yds. Being at altitude helps but it’s still a long course. Playing there tomorrow morning, reviewing the holes and noticed how long this hole is. Thought of this thread. #7 is a 604yd par 5, from the blues. 667yds from the tips. Beastie thing.
