Listen to your body!

Had a health scare these last few weeks. Had a headache that was not going away. Finally went to the doctor and think we have a line on what is happening. The worst, thankfully, did not come out on the MRI but other issues to address are on the table. Listen to you body. I'm 49 and have to realize I'm not young and invincible anymore . Really has given me scare and a new perspective on life.

Glad you had a scare but nothing too serious - wake up calls are good things if we head them.  Take care of yourself and follow your doctors advice - 49 is a great age to get yourself fit and ready for the next phase of life.

Just hit 60 this year, hard for me to wrap my head around. I look in the mirror and can't figure how it is I see an "old" man but still feel like I did 20 years ago. Just doesn't add up in my mind. I keep moving as much as possible, pushing thru the pain, and my wife telling me to act my age. Walk the course as much as my legs will allow, sometimes too much, then I ride for a few days. I see guys in my age group that seem to just give up, sit on their keester and drink and watch TV. I'm not sure how or why they do it. Kinda scary to think I have more days behind me than in front.....

I hope the issues are not serious.

I zoomed past the "young and invincible" stage looooong ago!!  I've been listening to my body for the last 20+ years, and it keeps telling me that I'm going to get a new pain every year.  Sometimes the old pain goes away; sometimes not, but there is always a new one.

Take care of your body while you are young.  It's a lot harder to do so when you get older.

We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

I'm right there with you. I turned 60 last September. I still feel like I'm 40, but the body isn't as willing as the mind...lol. I have junk shoulders that always hurt and a lower back that decides a couple times a year to cause problems. I just keep moving through it all. I'm sure not going to stop playing golf because things hurt...lol.

Aging - growing older has never bothered me. It is what it is. Women lement aging mostly. Heck they start complaining at 30. LOL At 65 I feel good and don't have any nagging ailments, etc. (knock on wood) After a couple of days on the course I'm sore but nothing serious. Sadly, many of my golfing buddies are nursing failing knees, shoulders, elbows,... you name it. One guy who's always fancied himself (and preached to everyone else) as a fitness buff is having all sorts or issues it seems. Who knows... I may be next. Genes play a huge part in our destiny. All we can do is deal with our own circumstance and move on. 🏌️‍♂️

@Titleist87hope all continues to go well.  None of us know when something like that comes into our daily lives. I definitely listen these days... not so much in the past though 😧.  I think the Superspeed (swing speed) program sounds fun but I've chosen not to participate because I've been able to manage my sometimes bothersome shoulder by not overdoing certain motions.  Be well.

I have a very hard time listening to my body because I'm an idiot. I play 27 holes on saturday and felt great until I stopped moving. I have a motorcycle accident a couple years ago. (had to relearn how to walk) I didn't realize it at the time buy my body definatly told me to stop after 18 holes. If I would have listened I could have played the next day. Because I pushed my body I couldn't play or walk straight for 3 days.
