Favorite Club In The Bag

Recommended Posts

What is your favorite club in your golf bag? Mine personally is my Scotty Cameron Newport Tel3 refinished by Putter Spa by JRich.

The Cameron Teryllium putters were some of the best he ever made. I like putter too much to limit myself to just one so it can’t be a favorite.

My favorite right now is my G400 max. While I don’t have perfect launch conditions every time, I hit it well and get great results; it just performs.

This is a real toss up between my M6 3-wood or my Mizuno JPX 900 Tour 6 iron. The 3 wood flushed probably has a better feeling but standing over my 6 iron right now I just have the confidence I can't miss. Over my last few rounds, I'm hitting ~70% of Greens in Reg with my 6 iron. It's weird to have more confidence over that than my pitching wedge, but golf is a weird sport.

It's tough to choose between driver and putter, but at the moment I'd say driver.  It's by far the most consistent club in my bag.

According to ARCCOS it’s this one by a mile. My chipping index is scratch and I hit about 65 percent of my non sand short game shots with it.

Personally my “favorite” is probably putter but this one is clearly my best.

Great thread, I can’t recall one like it here.

My 3 wood. I love it off the tee or off the deck. I feel comfortable that I know what it will do and I feel confident when I stand over a shot.

A close second is my 56*. I use it for a variety of shots and love the versatility that it provides.

I’d have to say my 50* wedge. I use it more than any other club, and as my short game is improving I feel more and more confident pulling it from the bag.

Toss up. I still have a 2006 Taylormade Burner 3-wood that is one of my most versatile and trusty clubs in my bag. I have always swung it well. However, I love my Taylormade Est 79 TM-180 putter. It has always felt comfortable and I am very confident with it at address.

Right now, my 60* Hi Toe wedge. Just really have good touch with this right now and can seemingly do whatever I want from any lie. Just feels like I am tossing the ball, and getting alot more spin than any other wedge i've used on these partial shots.

I’d have to go with my 52* MD4. It always seems to do what I need it to from full swing to green side. Love that club.

Honorable mention would go to my 3W. We have been getting along really well this season and it’s getting plenty of play from the fairways and the tee boxes.

Definitely the Betti Armlock that I reviewed for MGS last year. Not only is it the best performing club in my bag, it’s also the prettiest. In a far distant second would be my 4 iron. I can always hit it well, and it is a great get out of trouble club.

My 9 iron. Sweet spot is 142-150 yards and it's always pin high, if not nice and close. I find myself thinking of that yardage on par 5's if I don't have a shot of making it in two, though I usually just try and get it close enough for a pitch if that's the case.

Even holed out for an eagle from the wrong fairway with it.

Do you ever have a round where a club like your 4i just doesn't want to work?  I've got days like that where I just move to the other side of the bag and use the other one(s) that are working that day.

Most certainly, I'd say the 4i is usually not one of those.  Not sure why I always hit it so well.  I think it's because as a junior I'd tee off with it a lot, so built some pretty good confidence.  Also, the 4i in the AP2 has a pretty good sole on it which helps me get crisp contact and get it up in the air.  I believe the confidence I have in it helps me to swing with a good rhythm which is another positive in it's corner.  I think some of my shorter irons I should hit better get a little quick and cause my strike to suffer either fat or thin.  I usually have pretty good rhythm with the driver too, but there are days I get quick from the top, get steep and either pop it up or hit an ugly flare to the right.  Tempo and Rhythm are under rated in my opinion...

I agree 100%, especially when you mishit/flush an iron and are 50-60' away from the hole, but managed to find the green. I played this morning and I had my buddy say "just roll one somewhat close so that I can get a good read from your putt", little did he know that I was about to sink it. That buddy didn't even come close even after getting the perfect read.

My close second is my driver. I love working my power fade shot to how the hole is playing and trying to set myself up for the second shot.

Gap wedge. It’s really improved my chipping game and it’s my most comfortable lay up spot. Just feel most comfortable. Today it’s a Cobra OL wedge, but if you asked me a year ago I’d still say gap wedge, and it was a PingG400 (for some reason Cobra didn’t have any in stock when they sent me my clubs...)!
