Matt Saternus 32
Huh. To me, it hides its size pretty well. I actually had to go back and look again after I read the hefty comment. Quote Follow me on Twitter: @MattSaternus
SPY VIP GolfSpy Dave 1,564 Posted March 7, 2010 SPY VIP Share Posted March 7, 2010 I saw a lot of squareback there. Notch system seems quite common (Cleveland, etc.). I had a VP milled and the notch was more of a distraction than a helper. PoorGolfer 1
Are older models slotline putters worth anything? I have a friend who has one from the 80's I think and he thinks it's trash. Quote Addicted to golf since February 2008 Best Score: 89 Birdies:
Matt Saternus 32
I agree on the notch system being very distracting. Similarly, I don't like the system on SeeMore's and I don't even like "T" sightlines. I just need the putter to look symmetrical (not quite the right word, but close) at address so I can focus on the hole. With notches, etc, I'm busy watching the notch instead of the ball. jamo 16
I have a Nike OZ Black putter that sort of has a slot to line up the line with, I never use it. Quote Click here to view all of my scores and stats for the 2010 golf season.

I have a friend who has one from the 80's I think and he thinks it's trash. Not much. I have an old 8802-style slotline putter. Very nice, but not an investment. I just square the face to the target line and let it roll. One of our regulars swears by the site line, always lining it up with the sharpie line on the ball. Once they are in alignment he swings, usually missing. Trust the metal, not the paint. NGage 4
Wow....this thread brings back memories. A Slotline putter was my first "real" fancy putter. Actually, a set of Slotline Inertial E-Max clubs was my first new real set. Wow....long time ago. Here's a pic of the putter and E-Max clubs: Ok...can't find a pic of the irons, but they had the same gold weight type ports on the heel and toe of the irons. They looked kinda like Ping Eye2 (like everything else in the 80's), but had a black backing with the gold heel/toe weights.

Not sure if there are any gimmicks, but the sight line/notch pairing never works for me. OTW I really like the thick top line on this one. Reminds me of the older Newports. jamo 16
i'm so much of a feel player I can't handle these mechanical-like gimmicks I don't think it is a gimmick. I define a gimmick as something that doesn't work. This seems to work. Quote Click here to view all of my scores and stats for the 2010 golf season.
