My dad.

I shrugged him off throughout my teenage years. Thinking back on it, I was a terrible Son. Never gave him the respect or thanks that he deserved.

Luckily, I saw the light in my later teens and 20’s and we get to talk tractors and boats and golf and whatever now.

Time to call him now.

I'm glad that your relationship with your dad is in good standing.

My dad in my early teens. He wasn’t the greatest player but can teach anything. Learned everything from him (for better or worse lol) and have made adjustments over the years. Still remember the first time I beat him....he hasn’t been able to since lol

My dad introduced me to the game. He would take my brother and i out every chance he got. As I got older my dad and I continued to pay golf together on weekly basis and it really brought us closer together. Without those moments on the course our relationship wouldn't be what it is today. Now I have 2 sons of my own and now I get to start new golf memories with them.

My dad, after my hip broke down when I was 9 (yes the one I just had replaced) I couldn't play Rugby League anymore so he started taking me with him to golf. One day he bought home an old hickory iron for me to learn with (yes I still have it) and I have been hooked ever since. I had so many wonderful times with dad at golf and then my older brother joined us. Dad left us back in 1996 and the day he died my brother and I went and played golf to remember him. I felt his presence that day and every time since at the course.

That is a good neighbor

He's a good dude.  He was a bit too churchy for me and I didnt love having to listen to Christian rock on the way to the course and back but he's a good man.  He had a plumbing businesss in Chicago and his family was loaded, so they always had watercraft, boats and snowmobiles at their vacation house in Wisconsin where I lived that I could use anytime that I wanted and was one of those people who was well-off (not rich but not far from it) but never acted like it.

If we're going to talk about neibors and golf, I should also talk about the old guy across the street who had an old set of Hogans that he let me use when I was starting out.  That set would probably be worth some money today: he had a full set of Hogans from the '70s: matching persimmon woods and irons and the leather bag to do with it.  I dont exactly recommend starting out with persimmon woods and blade irons but it certainly makes for a great story.

My Father hooked me on the game.  And his Father in Law (my Grandfather) introduced him.  Reformed him from the evils of Baseball, I like to say 😆

And I try to get my son to play.  He does occasionally 🙂. Perhaps he will play more as time allows.
