sirchunksalot 9,574
I walked in to the clubhouse at my golf course today and almost, almost, bought a set of Ben Hogan Apex Edge irons. I know they're cavity back, but man, I want a set of Hogan's. The only reason I didn't was because I hadn't discussed it with SWMBO, even though I knew she'd be cool with it. She enables my golf addiction. $70 is just about too good of a deal to pass up. I don't need them, but I want them. So pretty.... 7

They're really good looking and I'm probably going to run by there tomorrow and take a better look at them. I didn't see what shaft was in them but just looked at set makeup and price. You didn't get a set, but did you ever hit them? How were they if you did? I need to do some research on them and see what people thought about them.

Did a search and there was a post from a couple of years ago that those shafts were similar to the True Temper Dynalite. Of course I hit them; but they were new at the time and out of the price range I wanted to spend. Never found a used set at my local used club store or I would have put a set in my bag. 2 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* set to 16.5* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 816H1 19* set at 18* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 588 54-14, 58-12 Putter: Ten S Backups: 6330, ER2.2, Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017

I appreciate the input, and the information on shafts. I had just paid and was heading to the golf cart when I spotted these beauties and didn't give them a good looking over. I'll look up the article. Thank you!

I might just have to plan a trip out that way next year and meet up with you, I think listening to your wisdom would do this fella good. I appreciate the kind words, I've said it a bunch, but the people on this forum are what makes it special. It does make me sad about Possum Trot, I played it in the late 90's on vacation with the ex in-laws and it held a special place in my heart. I used to have a towel from there, but have no idea where it's at. Right now I'm planning on bringing the Wilson's back out to play this weekend. I always take an extended weekend on Labor Day and since I've been playing in the Hard Rock Challenge, I've been using my regular set. I get way too competitive and think a nice, relaxing round or two with them is in order. It's funny, but I don't pressure myself at all with these clubs. I think I don't expect to tear the world up with them and just enjoy the ride. I need more work with the woods before I'm comfortable enough to go full classic, but I know it'll be fun when I do. HIGHLY recommend it. @BIG STU is one of the best dudes to take walk or a cart ride with. Let me know if you happen to ride through the upper part of SC on your way down. I'll meet up with you for lunch 7 Quote 2020 MGS Hard Rock Challenge SkyCaddie SX400 OGIO Silencer: Followed by Arccos G410+, Tensei Orange Vapor Fly 3, Diamana Blue, Covert 2.0 3H, Kuro Kage Black Wilson D7 Irons 4-GW, Dynamic Gold AMT Glide 52, 56 ES ER2 -ProV1x (left dash) Romans 10:
Popular Post sirchunksalot 9,574
I might have done a thing.... These are not super old clubs, coming out in 2002/2003, but they are sharp! I got a better look at them today and they're the Hogan Shafts in a 3 (regular) flex. Haven't had the chance to hit them properly, but did hit a couple of small chips in the back yard and they feel nice. They are the Pro model. The 5-E clubs have Release by Feel Golf grips and they feel like they have a reverse taper to them, the grip feels bigger the closer you get to the shaft. The 3&4 have normal grips. 8

I donated them to the First Tee - I hope the kid that got them (who's now an adult) treated them well. 3 Quote What's in the bag: Driver - F8 - Aldila NV Blue 60 ( S ) 3 Wood (16*) - F8 - Aldila NV Blue 60 ( S ) 4 Wood (17*) - Big Bertha S2H2 - RCH 90 "Firm" 4i - PW - D7 Forged - Recoil 760 ( S ) GW - LW - F8 - N.S.
