so a month in, @timabe and @Josh Ross, are you still enjoying these? I just got fitted for some new irons and am somewhat curious about taking a leap at these. Convincing  my wife i need different wedges though is another story.

Enjoying is an understatement. I absolutely love these things and want to get a second set eventually for when these wear down. I went and did some testing on a Foresight GCQuad against the latest offerings from Vokey, Ping, TaylorMade, and Cleveland. I found these, on average, to spin more on well struck shots by about 500 RPM. I'm generally a good ball striker so I tried to hit some high on the face to test the claims of increased spin on mis-hits. I have to say they delivered, as the Edison were spinning more than 1000 RPM over the others on average.

It has been fairly evident on the course. My home course is pretty short and with my distance off the tee I'm always inside 100 yards with my approach. After honing in on what swings produced which yardage during my launch monitor session, I played 9 holes and had 7 birdie opportunities. The greens were freshly punched and putting was impossible but the wedges put me in a position to score really well. I've been lacking confidence ever since my SCOR wedges lost their bite but now I'm more confident than ever.

They're a little pricey but definitely worth it. And if you don't like them, you get the wedges you want and the difference back. Can't go wrong with trying these first.

Has anyone compared these to the most wanted wedge from last year? I have a chance to get a pair new for the price of one Edison, although I told myself no more golf purchases this year. 😝

The Honma? I can't find them anywhere to hit so I can't help there.

I am absolutely loving these wedges.  Everything I wrote in August is still true. I'll add that I am definitely not an equipment junkie - I'm a firm believer that it's more about the swing than the stick. But these wedges are the easiest to hit I've ever played. For me, hitting a 55 degree wedge 100 yards is a huge help. In the past I had to choke down on a gap wedge. Now I can do a full swing and the ball stops dead on the green. Highly recommend.

Great to hear! These were going to be my next wedges, maybe they will be. Being a tester now for the Tour Rack Zipcores will make that a tough choice if they perform for me. Glad you found your secret sauce for a wedge.

Ok, so after another 6 months are they still the clubs you think they are? Worth the money? How versatile are they around the green when manipulating the face? That is more my concern, being that I don't think there is a better wedge for full swing shots. Also, the v-sole should mesh well with my Srixons.

Terry is one of the most outspoken and interesting interviews in golf. He's made some friends and some enemies along the way (check the comments on that blog post about Edison - wow!), but he's always interesting and tells it the way he sees it.

The Hogan TK-15 wedges remain among the best I've ever used (although you may have to pry the old Hogan Riviera wedges out of my cold, dead hands), and I'm anxious to try the new Edisons.

LOL sorta late as SOP with me---- I agree on the old Hogan Riviera wedges even if they are "Spalding/ Hogans". I have a couple of course as you know I am a wedge Ho along with everything else. But you well know when the human defication hits the mass air mover the old dependable 588 will be in my bag.

I think you'll find these to be very versatile around the greens. I can play any shot I want to with them. Nothing to lose with the trial program, give them a shot!

$180 per wedge is just a bit out of my price range right now lol

Also, not trying to hijack but I know that Eidolon wedges were also a product by Terry Koehler. Can I get some opinions on this? I am needing a 48* and I found this

I’ve pretty much decided to get these, just waiting to see what iron set I end up with so I know my gapping. That said of course Edel has come out with what they claim as game changing as well. I have a fitting end of May that I can test the Edel’s so I may buy the Edisons, then when I get to the fitting compare numbers/feel and utilize the buy back if necessary.

Glad to see so much praise about these! Matt from PluggedInGolf is gaming these and had a great review as well.

So the cat will eventually be out of the bag but I started working with Edison not too long ago. I'm in charge of most of the reviews you see out there including PluggedInGolf and our most recent one at TXG. Getting to work with those guys has been great and it's awesome to see them validate the claims. I don't like to come on here and be a cheerleader because I love MGS and just want to be a regular member like everyone else so I've kept my Edison chatter to a minimum and just offer help when needed.

Good for you.

I'm loving mine - missing my SCORs but am warming to these - they are a more forgiving design beyond a doubt - I'm starting to be able to flight them up and down quite easily, nice spin around the greens, Billy nailed the shaft for me.  Pricey, yes, but if they last 10 years like my SCORs did well worth it.

Taylor Made Stealth 2 10.5 Diamana S plus 60  Aldila  R flex   - 42.25 inches

SMT 4 wood bassara R flex, four wood head, 3 wood shaft

Ping G410 7, 9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Srixon ZX5 MK II  5-GW - UST recoil Dart 65 R flex

India 52,56 (60 pending)  UST recoil 75's R flex

Evon roll ER 5 32 inches

It's our offseason so auditioning candidates - looking for that right mix of low spin long, more spin around the greens - TBD

Congrats! I wanted mine to work, but the 49 and 55 I got has too much bounce for my swing/game. Wound up skulling just about anything on course. I don't want to call it a waste of money, I cant in good conscious do that. They are a HIGH quality wedge, they just don't work for me unfortunately. For now, they are gathering dust in the club collection until a need from another arises.

Sorry they didn't work out for you. There's definitely not a club out there that will be for everyone, no matter how good it is. There are a good number of people out there interested in them, you could probably sell them for a good price or if it isn't too late you could look into the buyback program.

Are these appropriate for a (much!) higher handicapper?  Most of the feedback seems to be from much better players than me.  But the forgiveness claims on his web site certainly sound like something us beginners need.  I've recently re-engaged in the game after 30 years of 1 or 2 rounds a year.  I bought my first "real" set of irons, Sub70 699's.   I picked up a $35 wilson 56 sand wedge just to have something in the bag.  The 9/PW/AW lofts are 40/45/50 so I'm wondering if adding a 55 and 59 would be a reasonable approach?  I've also read that most beginners shouldn't even try to hit more than a 56 since there's not much margin for error.  Maybe just start with the 55 until my game is a bit more developed.

Or would I be better off just picking up the $170 Costco wedge set and leave the 52 in the box or sell it?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I briefly had a 53º Edison that was lent to me by somebody else who also didn't like it.

I liked the cavity back construction which is similar to a numbered-iron look.

I don't know if it made the wedge more forgiving, but one thinks that  it will and that always helps.

However,

the Edison has Terry Koehler's Reid-Lockhart  sole design which was featured on Scor wedges and may currently be found on Hogan Equalizers if I'm not mistaken.

Some people do well with that,  Revkey being an apparent example.

Not good at all for me.  I like minimal face to back camber and low bounce;  and if you do too, you might not like the Edison wedges.

I have an Edison 49º I bought to replace my SCOR 50º.  I like Terry Koehler's wedges, but I wouldn't say that they are better, especially for a higher handicap.  Certainly not for the price.  I wouldn't replace my Callaway PM Grind wedges with Edison.

There is nothing wrong with the Kirkland wedge set for the price of one Edison.  However, if you get them you should make sure that they fit you for length and lie angle.

Since you bought the Sub70 irons, you were probably fit for those by Sub70.  Why not add a SW from Sub70?  They will make sure you get what fits you.  Sub70 rated a little higher than the Kirklands in this year's MGS Most Wanted Wedge test, and they are reasonably priced.

Just my 2 cents.

Thanks Kenny B.  I did get the online fitting for length (+0.5") and lie angle (+2 deg upright) for my irons.  And then I got fitted locally for shafts.  Would these measurements still be appropriate for either an Edison or Sub70 wedge?

The price is certainly a concern, and keeping the cost down was a major concern in the other clubs I've bought.  But given how often the wedges are hit, I'm not totally opposed to spending a bit more.  Although the cheapskate in me is attracted to the Costco set.

thanks again for the feedback.

I've been playing the Edison wedges for this season and for me, it's the best investment I've made.  With my age, broken neck, new knee and other aliments, my game is short off the tee, fairway wood short of the green, chip and putt.  So for me, having four wedges and ones that provide consistency and back spin is valuable.  When I purchased my set (50, 55, 60 degrees) they had some returns that they tweaked ( loft and lie angle) to meet my specifications.  Even with that, they were still a little higher than I was used to paying for a wedge.

That being said, my opinion would be to purchase a 55 degree wedge that matches your lie, loft, length and shaft type specifications and get more experience hitting it from various lies and situations before making the Edison purchase.  By trying to match your irons as best as you can, it takes more variables out of the equation.  Once you get proficient, feel comfortable hitting the range of wedge shots and realize your game could use a lob wedge, then I'd upgrade.

That should be fine, but I have a question:  How do you think you will be using the wedges?  Will you be making full shots?  Or mostly feel/touch shots around the green?

Some players make full shots, and some players say they never make full shots with SW and LW, particularly the LW.  I never do.  The reason I ask is that if you mostly make feel/touch shots like pitches, chips and bunker shots, there is value is having a little flatter lie for those wedges; bent knees, hands a little lower, keeping the club face open through the shot.  Even some PGA Tour players play wedges that are a little flatter than their irons.

I might have sent my Edison wedge back, since I didn't see the performance gains they were touting.  Performance was fine, just not better, and I didn't know what I get instead.  I bought it last year and I still play it.  I love my Callaway SW and LW and would have gone with a Callaway GW to match, but the design was different and didn't like the looks.

If you haven't seen it yet, here is the link to MyGolSpy's Most Wanted Wedge test this year...

Probably mostly around the green.  At least right now, I hit my irons so short that there's probably not much yardage gap below my AW anyway.  Probably another reason it might make sense to only get a SW for now.  I've started taking some lessons so hopefully my ball striking and distance will improve enough to cause a gap problem.  Let's hope!

Then probably a standard lie wedge would work fine.  If you aren't making full shots with the wedges, then you don't really need consistent loft gaps.  Don't worry about getting exactly a 55º... a 56º would be fine... more commonly found.  Not sure if your irons are steel or graphite shafts, but even if they are graphite, steel shaft wedges are a reasonable choice and less expensive.  Very lightweight graphite is not the best choice for wedges; a heavier wedge allows gravity to help get the club to the ball efficiently.  If you were making full swings, I would recommend the same shaft as the irons.

Best of luck!  Lessons are the best investment in a golf game.

As good as the wedges are, they aren't for everyone. We have had a few people send them back after a few rounds but the huge majority doesn't once they get them in hand. If you have any questions I'll do my best to answer or get you in touch with someone who can!

Just received my second Edison, this time a 59 (to add to my 55).  They had a sale on some of their "gently used" clubs but it was sold twice at once, and was shipped to the other person.  They took care of me with a new one at the promised sale price...excellent service.  Great feel on the face, and I have been struggling a bit with adjusting to the liveliness of the face, but that's a good thing.  Now that I'm starting to get a little used to them, I am hitting much better pitches and chips, far better than I was with the previous CBX2s.  And full swing performance has improved, adding about 10-15 yards to my distance and good stopping power on the greens.  My first few swings left me a little leery of what I had purchased, but in the last few weeks I have become a definite believer.
