MFSOT
I’ve pretty much decided to get these, just waiting to see what iron set I end up with so I know my gapping. That said of course Edel has come out with what they claim as game changing as well. I have a fitting end of May that I can test the Edel’s so I may buy the Edisons, then when I get to the fitting compare numbers/feel and utilize the buy back if necessary. Glad to see so much praise about these! Matt from PluggedInGolf is gaming these and had a great review as well.

Good for you. I'm loving mine - missing my SCORs but am warming to these - they are a more forgiving design beyond a doubt - I'm starting to be able to flight them up and down quite easily, nice spin around the greens, Billy nailed the shaft for me. Pricey, yes, but if they last 10 years like my SCORs did well worth it. 2 Quote Taylor Made Stealth 10.5 Aldila Ascent Red R flex Ping G410 5, 7, 9 wood Alta 65 R flex Wilson D7 forged 5-GW - Mamiya recoil 460 R flex SCOR 52, 56 Ping Glide 3.0 Ping Eye 2 grind 58.8 L.A.B. I don't want to call it a waste of money, I cant in good conscious do that. They are a HIGH quality wedge, they just don't work for me unfortunately. There's definitely not a club out there that will be for everyone, no matter how good it is. There are a good number of people out there interested in them, you could probably sell them for a good price or if it isn't too late you could look into the buyback program. GregL
Are these appropriate for a (much!) higher handicapper? Most of the feedback seems to be from much better players than me. But the forgiveness claims on his web site certainly sound like something us beginners need. I've recently re-engaged in the game after 30 years of 1 or 2 rounds a year. I bought my first "real" set of irons, Sub70 699's. I picked up a $35 wilson 56 sand wedge just to have something in the bag. The 9/PW/AW lofts are 40/45/50 so I'm wondering if adding a 55 and 59 would be a reasonable approach? I've also read that most beginners shouldn't even try to hit more than a 56 since there's not much margin for error. Maybe just start with the 55 until my game is a bit more developed. Or would I be better off just picking up the $170 Costco wedge set and leave the 52 in the box or sell it? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! 1 Quote ST200 driver 939X 3W/5W/4H 699 5-AW Buckingham Infinite putter
BostonSal
I briefly had a 53º Edison that was lent to me by somebody else who also didn't like it. I liked the cavity back construction which is similar to a numbered-iron look. I don't know if it made the wedge more forgiving, but one thinks that it will and that always helps. However, the Edison has Terry Koehler's Reid-Lockhart sole design which was featured on Scor wedges and may currently be found on Hogan Equalizers if I'm not mistaken. Some people do well with that, Revkey being an apparent example. Not good at all for me. I like minimal face to back camber and low bounce; and if you do too, you might not like the Edison wedges. I have an Edison 49º I bought to replace my SCOR 50º. I like Terry Koehler's wedges, but I wouldn't say that they are better, especially for a higher handicap. Certainly not for the price. I wouldn't replace my Callaway PM Grind wedges with Edison. There is nothing wrong with the Kirkland wedge set for the price of one Edison. However, if you get them you should make sure that they fit you for length and lie angle. Since you bought the Sub70 irons, you were probably fit for those by Sub70. Why not add a SW from Sub70? They will make sure you get what fits you. Sub70 rated a little higher than the Kirklands in this year's MGS Most Wanted Wedge test, and they are reasonably priced. Just my 2 cents. I did get the online fitting for length (+0.5") and lie angle (+2 deg upright) for my irons. And then I got fitted locally for shafts. Would these measurements still be appropriate for either an Edison or Sub70 wedge? The price is certainly a concern, and keeping the cost down was a major concern in the other clubs I've bought. But given how often the wedges are hit, I'm not totally opposed to spending a bit more. Although the cheapskate in me is attracted to the Costco set. thanks again for the feedback. 1 Quote ST200 driver 939X 3W/5W/4H 699 5-AW Buckingham Infinite putter
Golf2Much
I've been playing the Edison wedges for this season and for me, it's the best investment I've made. With my age, broken neck, new knee and other aliments, my game is short off the tee, fairway wood short of the green, chip and putt. So for me, having four wedges and ones that provide consistency and back spin is valuable. When I purchased my set (50, 55, 60 degrees) they had some returns that they tweaked ( loft and lie angle) to meet my specifications. Even with that, they were still a little higher than I was used to paying for a wedge. That being said, my opinion would be to purchase a 55 degree wedge that matches your lie, loft, length and shaft type specifications and get more experience hitting it from various lies and situations before making the Edison purchase. By trying to match your irons as best as you can, it takes more variables out of the equation. Once you get proficient, feel comfortable hitting the range of wedge shots and realize your game could use a lob wedge, then I'd upgrade. 1 Quote Ping G400 SFT driver with a Matrix MFS 5 Korean Prototype Senior shaft, 12 degrees Mizuno GT180 3 wood, with a Tensei CK Blue 50 gram senior shaft Callaway GBB Epic Heavenwood, with a Mitsubishi Diamana 50 grams senior shaft Ping G 20.5 degree 7 wood, with a stock Alta 65 gram senior shaft Ping G hybrid 5 (26 degrees) with stock Alta 70 gram senior shaft Ping G30 irons 6-W, Yellow dot with graphite Fujikura EXS 60i R2-Flex shafts Edison wedges: 50 degrees, 55 degrees and 60 degrees, 2 degrees up with KBS Tour Graphite A flex shafts Putters: L.A.B. That should be fine, but I have a question: How do you think you will be using the wedges? Will you be making full shots? Or mostly feel/touch shots around the green? Some players make full shots, and some players say they never make full shots with SW and LW, particularly the LW. I never do. The reason I ask is that if you mostly make feel/touch shots like pitches, chips and bunker shots, there is value is having a little flatter lie for those wedges; bent knees, hands a little lower, keeping the club face open through the shot. Even some PGA Tour players play wedges that are a little flatter than their irons. I might have sent my Edison wedge back, since I didn't see the performance gains they were touting. Performance was fine, just not better, and I didn't know what I get instead. I bought it last year and I still play it. I love my Callaway SW and LW and would have gone with a Callaway GW to match, but the design was different and didn't like the looks. At least right now, I hit my irons so short that there's probably not much yardage gap below my AW anyway. Probably another reason it might make sense to only get a SW for now. I've started taking some lessons so hopefully my ball striking and distance will improve enough to cause a gap problem. If you aren't making full shots with the wedges, then you don't really need consistent loft gaps. Don't worry about getting exactly a 55º... a 56º would be fine... more commonly found. Not sure if your irons are steel or graphite shafts, but even if they are graphite, steel shaft wedges are a reasonable choice and less expensive. Very lightweight graphite is not the best choice for wedges; a heavier wedge allows gravity to help get the club to the ball efficiently. If you were making full swings, I would recommend the same shaft as the irons. Best of luck! Lessons are the best investment in a golf game. 1 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

JWK1969
Just received my second Edison, this time a 59 (to add to my 55). They had a sale on some of their "gently used" clubs but it was sold twice at once, and was shipped to the other person. They took care of me with a new one at the promised sale price...excellent service. Great feel on the face, and I have been struggling a bit with adjusting to the liveliness of the face, but that's a good thing. Now that I'm starting to get a little used to them, I am hitting much better pitches and chips, far better than I was with the previous CBX2s. And full swing performance has improved, adding about 10-15 yards to my distance and good stopping power on the greens. My first few swings left me a little leery of what I had purchased, but in the last few weeks I have become a definite believer. 1 Quote Mizuno ST200G driver, Diamana White stiff Mizuno ST200 Tour Spoon 3 wood, Diamana White stiff Titleist TSR 7 wood, stiff Mizuno MP223 irons, 4-GW, Nippon Modus X-stiff Edison Forged wedges, 55 and 59 degree, KBS Tour stiff Mizuno M Craft II putter
