^^^ that’s me. I definitely generate more speed in irons in proportion to what I should be able to get out of driver.

My high end for 4i (one length) on course (Arccos) is 230 yards. Skytrak can back that up at 210 carry 220 total for good shots.

I usually lose a tiny bit of distance from the same degree head in a wood (Cobra Ltd 41.5” 19* 5w), but like the spin and descent angle better for holding greens so I rotate them. I can’t confirm club head speed (skytrak doesn’t measure it), but I think my club head speed w a 41.5” 65g graphite shafted wood is about the same or slightly less than a 37” 4 iron w a c taper 120.

That's interesting re: driver vs iron speed. I feel like I'm the complete opposite and hit driver disproportionately further than my other clubs.

Honestly, for me, it's probably a physiological reaction to having very little confidence in not slicing it off the planet if I swing harder? I can generate loads of speed with the SuperSpeed sticks, and a "dry" driver swing without a ball usually registers 112-114 on the same radar, or probably 108-110 with a "real" radar like Trackman. Those numbers would be more in line with an 87 MPH 7-iron.

I did have a lesson today (I'll probably create a post over in my work in progress thread), and we completely changed my driver setup and I started seeing better results. The one Trackman shot my coach sent me had 101 MPH club speed, 153 MPH ball speed, +2 AoA and +0.8 in-to-out for a carry of 245 with range balls. Massive change, it's now just being able to do it consistently.

Yessir. That’s exactly it ... it’s really hard to have your hands keep up with your arms & body and have them roll and rotate through the swing. And to further that, it’s a severe mental block for many of us once we’re on the tee box ... and not be afraid it’s going to sweep off into the clouds.

I had my fitting today and it went really well!! I’ll type up a full report on it later tonight, but here’s a spoiler... I owe a full blown apology to Nippon after my (harsh) words about the Modus 105s.
(Read teeny-tiny dispersion circle with consistent contact)

Haha! I look forward to reading your apology letter. Sounds like you have a great fit, cant wait to see what you ended up with.

Looking forward to the results. I've never tried Nippon shafts before but they were third on my fitting recommendation behind Project X LZ and something else.

As I wrote yesterday I thought that I would be lucky to get the clubs today, but 30mins after my post I got notified that they had arrived! So I naturally picked them up on my way to the course for a round and they worked just so well right away! I do love them. I also got some new shoes to match!

Yea I love the look and they are so comfy and stable. Picked them out of the box and right onto the course and it felt like I walked a round in my regular sneakers just so comfy!

Puma makes sound really comfy shoes and they don't require any break in time. I love those Forged Tec irons you got, those are some of the better looking players distance irons out there. Congrats on the purchases!

I am really curious how the Speedzone irons perform out of the rough.  With the F9s I am seeing 1-2 clubs longer from the rough.  It really messes with you.

I suppose, given the lofts and lower spin that results, any grass that gets between the club face and the ball could exaggerate a flier. You'd essentially be spinning the ball like a wood but with a massive launch angle.

Do they look like they knuckle when you get one of these?

I'm going to agree with Wedgie (can't believe I just said that) I have never had an issue with knuckleballs out of the rough with my F9s. I always seem to get a very predictable distance and spin from them with no real jumpers at all.

My mood this morning:
image.png.12d3315827c1131362f55291ec7e006e.png

Yeah these next few weeks will be tough. I really liked the feel of the Modus 120’s at the store and after talking with the fitter from Cobra last night I’m even more excited to get my hands on them. Super smooth feeling even in X flex. I was right on the line between X and S (about 90mph for the 7 iron and 108mph for the driver) so we decided X on irons for control since they felt great and S on the driver for feel.

Feel on the driver?  I only feel stressed,  1 deg offline and driver is in the damn woods.

Feel like this... Striping one down the middle on your favorite closing hole on a perfect Saturday afternoon... All the good feels. That’s what I’m looking for in my Speedzone driver.
