Well here we are, the popcorn has been bought, the previews have been played, the house lights have dimmed, the fanfare has played  and the main event has begun!!

This years competitors have put their minds to the task and thrown their best pitches at us. I have found it very difficult to choose between them.

I mean do I go for the man with Phils Phantastic calves? Do I side with the man who's use of memes is almost as good as mine? (although using the children right off the bat is cheating). Do I support the man who is Cobra crazy and has the same nickname as me? (yes my real nickname is Hammer) Do I choose a combination of age, experience and sheer audacity with a side of one length clubs? Or do I choose youth ,a rubber spine and snappy retorts with wicked burns thrown in?

What I do have to say is everyone of you has done an outstanding job of your intros and all of them is worthy of my vote. But I have decided to throw the cat among the pigeons and give my vote to....

And for the record... I LOVE this Speedzone 5-wood, and used a G30 5-wood before this.  I can’t get 3-woods off the ground for the life of me, but a 5-wood works great as an off the tee and off the turf option.  Through the baseline period my G30 5-wood was averaging 240 with it.  Besides two bad balls (pop ups) I’ll take everything there.  I wasn’t expecting the Speedzone to impress me as much as it has.  We will see how it translates on to the course!

And happy to hear you’re impressed with it as well, for I am very much in the market for a 5W. I keeping going back and forth over a hybrid, driving/utility iron or the traditional 5W.

There’s nothing wrong with having a 5W in the bag ... many touring pros carry a driver, 3W and a 5W in their bag. 
And happy to hear you’re impressed with it as well, for I am very much in the market for a 5W. I keeping going back and forth over a hybrid, driving/utility iron or the traditional 5W. 

Yeah it’s a cannon. I’m already in love with it.

Yeah, I noticed that too.  What are your yardages and gaps 3W to 5W to 4h?

I'm 3w, 3h, 4i but I'm not sure I'm settled on that setup.

Here are my baseline yardages

 

I go Driver, 5W, 4H.  I’ve never had much success with 3-woods off anything but a tee and I’ll take the 5-wood from 220+ on approaches and had one drive of 261 with it year.  Both my G30 and the Speedzone are playing at 17* which is the lowest loft setting for both.  

The 4-Hybrid from my baseline is a 23* Titleist 818H1.  The Speedzone is 21* so I expect that to bump up a few yards.

Are these from course play or range?  Did you have similar 5i/6i, 7i/8i yardages with your current sticks?  On the plus side, you could grab the wrong club and still get the right yardage .

Those were my baseline stats with my old clubs.  A lot of that bunching was from the number of swings with each.  for example, the 5 iron only had 13 shots, and I know more than a few of those were not full swings.  and the 7/8 only had 10/11 hits each.  I also played a few rounds where there were significant slope variation so I'm not too surprised by this.  My longest 6-iron in the baseline period was 200 yards It was a long downhill par 3 that I just let bound down the fairway and the longest 5 iron was only 191.

I'm glad I opted for the 5w.  The G400's are easy to hit off a billiard table to moderate rough lies. I see about 20 yards difference in carry distance but the 3w has a lower trajectory and tends to roll out more.  I haven't messed around with lie/loft settings on either... probably should just to see what happens.

Roger that.  It will be interesting to see if the Cobra's spread that out a bit.  If not, you always have PING as an option.

I expect to have some bigger gaps from PW on up.  My old AP2s has 4* gaps from GW to 6 and then 3* to the 5-iron.

The GW and PW are 1/2 club stronger, then the 9 and 8 are a full club stronger, and the 7, 6, and 5 are all more than a full club stronger than my old AP2s.

Roller coaster first official round this morning, with two 3-putts and two triple bogies leading to an 84. 

Did catch my drive on No. 17 just perfectly, however.

The SpeedZone long irons are so easy to hit, and they go a mile with a ton of height. On No. 9 today I hit a 5-iron off the tee because, "There's no way that sand is anywhere near in play with this club," and 210 yards uphill later I nearly ran it into the bunker...

Love these Arccos aerial visuals! Superb stuff. And I have to think that they’ve got to help feed the ego and boost one’s confidence after a post round review. Cause truthfully, we can ALL use/need that when it comes to golf.

That's something I've always been kinda curious about with tracking yardages on the course. You've got wind, lies, choke up shots, partial swings, elevation change, so many different situations from shot to shot. I guess law of averages cancels everything out? But how long does that take? Or can Arccos take some of those variables into account?

Arccos does factor in wind, temperature, and elevation changes.Also it disregards recovery shots in total calculation of a clubs distance averages.

Perhaps I am a moron, but I can't seem to find @daviddvm's intro on page one. Clicking the "Intro" link in Stud's first post randomly dumps me on page 13 and he doesn't have a post on that page at all, much less his intro. What am I missing?
