Missed this with everyone beating down @GB13.

Minimum two, hopefully three rounds of 18 throughout the challenge. COVID has actually freed up my schedule a little bit, which is good, but the downside is that my course is also much busier than normal, so I can't just show up and walk on anytime of the day anymore.

I do have some vacation hours to burn, so I'm hoping to supplement a few rounds here or there on days I wouldn't normally play.

Omg, YES! I’m an early morning 6:30 golfer and even the weekday tee sheets are getting booked up here at that hour.

If it’s after 7am, and you’re a solo, forget finishing 18 in 2 1/2 hours. Just too many groups to have to try to play through. Additionally, my home course is getting hammered on their gas bill for so many golfers are requesting a single cart.

Is Tour length shorter or longer than standard? You may have stated in a previous comment, but likely missed it.

It’s one inch shorter than standard. 44.5 total length. It also usually comes with extra head weight. So mine has a 6 and 18 gram weight. I think Cody ordered his light. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it was still heavier than stock.

We used to keep a 2x4 by the door just for that, there were years were snakes were a big problem, because of people clearing out lots for houses and them running out of their natural habitat and food sources.

OK competitors, here's a curveball right out of the gate. We all know that not every set is 100% perfect when we first get it, since there's usually a slight adjustment period. So as of right now (and yes it's still early), what about your set didn't jump out right away to you? Or maybe what isn't fitting your eye... yet? Could be looks, could be comfort, could be performance... ? Did you opt for something in your setup that maybe you're slightly second guessing?

Yes it absolutely may be something that changes as you get more comfortable, and we all expect that. But as of right now, what would you point to as something you're not 100% happy about? Don't worry - we won't hold your answers against you 😉

MIM 60 is standard 35.5" conventional length wedge. I ordered 60* KingONE wedge 37.5" shaft, but is on backorder due to covid 19. Not a club I use a tremendous amount but all three of my Vokey wedges I'm used to have 36.5" shafts. This MIM feel awkward to me so far.

Older (last season and prior): Ping G30 10.5 with Ping Tour 65 stiff shaft.  Played at 44.5 with extra headweight.

Old (this spring):  Taylormade M5 10.5 with Tensei Pro White 60 stiff.

The Speedzone is easily longer than the G30.  I didn't hit the G30 bad, but the launch and spin windows were better with the M5 and Speedzone (full disclosure: I'm also swinging faster).

Early results suggest the Speedzone is as long as the M5, but I can't yet say its really any longer or shorter.  It's around the same area.  I will say this... Off center hits feel 1000% better with the Speedzone, and appear to hold their line better, I'd expect my average to be longer when this 8 weeks is up, but I'm not sure I'll set any records on any one drive.

Prior to Me playing the Cobra F8+ i was playing a G30 LST. With the Ping I hit some monster drives, I had 1 measured at 315, but I could not control it.. Once i got the Cobra my average distance increased as my dispersion decreased.

Good luck.. Have FUN.. it'll be a Short/Long summer...

I'm going to finally hop into this conversation, a little anyway. I am not a trash talker, so I won't participate in that part. That's not how ladies play. We're more cunning. I'll continue to read along, (click like, love, laugh, etc) while I enjoy and laugh out loud at some of your posts. And sometimes I'll add a comment or opinion.

To start. All great 1st review posts. I have thoroughly enjoyed trying to keep up. I feel sorry for anyone just now joining the thread.

@B.Boston cuetheduckboats is a cute idea but I don't see how that or how many wins Boston teams earned has anything to do with your golf skills.

@daviddvm I like the horse racing theme. It fits you well. It's obvious this is a working man who doesn't have time for the trash drivel during the day.

@edingc Nice intro and yep, good calves. Interesting how television always zooms in on ladies legs and not men's.

@Headhammer Best team logo! And creative intro! You spent thoughtful time on it. I love his quite, calm, but sassy demeanor - quiet assassin seems to fit. This guy has a stellar chance to sneak in a win when the rest of you are not paying attention.

@GB13 - This venom spitter seems to be on top of his game in every way. Creative, elegant writer with word play (much like @downlowkey), quick witted, fearlessly ripping everyone to shreds except @Headhammer, super confident in his golf game with very clear goals. You guys must be worried about him or why else would you all pile on?

I commit to vote every week, but you guys are too ruthless for me to reveal my choices.

Hey not everyone can bash, you’ll have to keep us in line lol.

well it’s a 50/50 guess who you picked but we shall never know I suppose!

I'm not convinced the 2 hybrid, 4 iron setup was the way to go, even if the gapping looked right on Trackman. I should have pushed back on my fitter a little bit with that. I could grow into that setup, but for now I am almost never going to pull the hybrid because I just don't play a ton of courses where those lengths are going to be useful. Most courses I play are not going to be longer than 6,200-6,300 yards. That is partly because of my skill level off the tee (erratic is putting it nicely) and partly because there are not a ton in the area that have tees in the 6,400-6,600 range, which is probably the max I'd feel comfortable playing with some enjoyment and chances to score. Heck, there are a ton of courses in this area that are shorter than 6,000 yards from the back-most tees.

Playing at my current course, I will never have a chance to use the 2 hybrid, unless I either purposely play other shots short, or if I absolutely wallop a drive 285-290 yards slightly uphill on the par 5 on the back I might be able able to go for the green in two with either the hybrid or 3 wood. That hasn't happened once in almost 75 rounds at this course.

I think I could have gone with a 19 degree hybrid chopped down slightly in length to keep it in line distance-wise with the 5 iron, removed the 4 iron, and then added an additional wedge at the bottom end of my bag to tighten up the gapping down there and provide an additional bounce option.

Interesting take on this I like it. What grind do you think you would have went with?

For me it's the 60* MIM wedge. I've been playing a Callaway PM grind for the last few years and have utmost confidence in that club from anywhere inside 75 yards. The shapes of the PM & the MIM are so drastically different it's going to take me some time to build a similar level of confidence. I flubbed a chip from around the green, skulled one and came up short twice on 40 yard approach shots in my first round with it. Going to spend some time tomorrow at the range working with it from different lies and distances to gain more comfort.

Testers! 🗣

Thus far, what is (and it can only be ☝🏼) your favorite club within your bag amongst your Cobra set ... it can even be a specific iron.

SpeedZoneONE length 4 Hybrid is MONEY! High, straight, and long! I will be leaning on this club a lot in the next 8 weeks.

But I want to reiterate the SpeedZoneONE irons are sweet AF image.png.a4bfd32686c1d00653d43d8bac6fc3a6.png

Lacassem ask:    How many times we will play?

I will play two rounds a week and get a few range sessions.

We have had 5 successive days of rain and a tropical system in the Gulf headed our way...yikes! But it rain has stopped this afternoon and tomorrow the day is predicted to but sunny for my second round with the SpeedZoneONE clubs🏌️‍♂️

Alright Ladies~

What was your old driver, and is the new Cobra longer?

Old Driver: Callaway Big Bertha 460 9*

New Driver: Cobra SpeedZone 9*

Anecdotally, yes it appears to be longer off the tee, but I only have one round in with it and I hit the 3W off most tees yesterday, and it was by far longer than my old Cleveland HiBore 3W. I plan to book some TrackMan time later in the competition and get head to head data on the old & new driver and irons.

This is one of the best posts of this whole thread. I got a good laugh out of it.

I'm going to finally hop into this conversation, a little anyway. I am not a trash talker, so I won't participate in that part. That's not how ladies play. We're more cunning.

While we're on the subjects of bests, this is one of the best lines of this thread. I wasn't expecting this and it had me rolling.

I want to take a moment and ruin B.Boston day by mentioning Mookie has signed long term with the Dodgers. #redsoxsuck #whyvoteboston #theyreliterallymassholes
Great intros everyone! I’m excited for the real competition to begin.

Good more Mookie... but that’s a lot of money for one player. I hope Boston has learned it’s lesson on those type of long big dollar deals.

Interesting stuff here, having this experience with the hybrid would you now consider getting a one length hybrid?

The only people’s day this should be ruining are Dodgers fans when they realize the team is gonna be completely hamstrung in a few years.

Even as a joking trash talk this one is well below what’s expected in this thread. Get with it.
