#COBRACONNECT Challenge 4

Here in the front office at FIXSports, we're pouring over bio's and stats - looking for that perfect draft pick. After some long days and nights, we've simply come to the conclusion that... there aren't any in this years class .  So we resorted to some rather unconventional approaches in attempt to cull out what we could from this list of lackluster Cobra Connect Challengers.  We asked the contestants to share their driver backswing - the deepest getting our endorsement.

The Kid (#teamvenomspitter), 8.4/10

Da Gai frum Bastan (#teamcuetheducboats), 8.9/10

The Contortionist (#TeamCalvesLikePhil), holy crap (9.8)/10

Thus far, no entry from either #TeamCobraOne or #TeamHammer.  But here at FixSports, we are an equal opportunity enterprise and recognize geriatrics as a "condition" and worthy of special consideration.  So, if the maximus rotation test is unfair and discriminatory, we offer any one of the following optional tests as a substitute:

• Watermelon or Sunflower seed spitting closest to the pin (from 12 ft.)
• Fewest grunts and groans while putting on your golf shoes
• Fewest bathroom stops during an 18 hole round

Snatching victory from Edin's hands is there for the taking. We, and no doubt the forum at large, look forward to seeing whatcha got .

How about least shots during a round? Seems like a fair way to make your pick... oh and yeah, I shot a personal best this morning. Pick the hot hand Fix!

Callaway Epic Flash, HZRDUS Yellow 6.0, 10.5* turned to 9.5*, cut down to 44.5" and playing around D2 swingweight.

Small sample size, but on the screws I think the Epic Flash is slightly longer. But I'm squaring up the SpeedZone Xtreme so much better, offline shots seem to hold their line better and with better ball speed and less spin, and the sound is no comparison. Epic Flash had a notoriously unlikeable sound, but I didn't realize how bad it was until I hit the SpeedZone Xtreme.

I probably would have done like @B.Boston and put one of each grind in the bag, or at least had the low bounce option in either the 56 or 60.

Maybe! The idea of chopping the hybrid down to match iron shaft lengths really comes from what I did with my Cobra F8 hybrid that I use with my Maltby PTMs. The SteelFiber I have in it is an iron shaft, tipped trim to match the weight of the head, and cut to a 4 iron length. It fit my gapping extremely well, and I could launch it really easily.

I finally got around to measuring everything tonight, and I have to re-iterate how nice of a job Cobra's build team did hitting my requested specifications. Especially because I requested custom swingweight on every club.

Looks like only one small thing out of place. The shaft sticker on the 58 degree wedge is for a regular C-Taper X and not the C-Taper Lite X. Going off of feel and total weight, it's just the wrong label. Feels much too similar to the rest of the shafts to be a regular C-Taper. Easy fix - I'll just request a label from KBS and change it eventually.

Thus far, what is (and it can only be ☝) your favorite club within your bag amongst your Cobra set ... it can even be a specific iron. 

Shockingly, I have to go with the 3 hybrid. It’s just soooo forgiving, I can’t believe it. I really chunked one today that would’ve gone about 10 yards with my 2 iron, but it still made it about 180. Obviously not a good shot by any means, but managing your misses is a very important skill in golf, and having a club that helps with that is awesome. (Not to mention my 3 approach shots with it have all been inside 20 feet.)

Plenty of rounds nice. It just came to mind because I had a lull the past 2 weeks due to work and just was curious how you folks would fare. 

I mean a silver lining with this whole COVID I think is just that, people are just getting out and doing things. The States are so "go, go, go" we dont sit and enjoy things. I am glad to see you and several others are able to enjoy the extra golf this year (me being one of them as well)

Thanks, having a set that is properly fit just matters so much. I can finally swing freely and not have to manufacture a swing that fits my clubs.

Yes, swinging freely makes a huge difference. You’ll prob be both faster and more consistent.

Somehow the math of giving yourself a chance to win a World Series in the next few years adds up. Thankfully, the Red Sox will be watching from the sidelines for awhile. I want to say in October, but when is the playoffs this year? I don’t even know what normal is anymore.

Maybe! It's funny how people keep coming after Boston sports teams as if we, as fans, haven't seen 12 championship titles in the past 20 years and a slew of other finals/SB appearances. I literally am out of room in my dresser drawers from all the championship t-shirts my mother-in-law insists on buying me every time a Boston-area team wins.

Every year the Cobra Connect Challenge is the most fun, interactive thread here on the forum. There is a dark side to it, though. That is being seductive and enabling a new club addiction. For CCC3 it was a brand new set of irons. 

CCC4 didn't hit me in the wallet, but it was the inspiration for the purchases that CCC5 caused. 

So to all the competitors in all these challenges, you're doing a great job highlighting what Cobra, as a clubmaker, puts out. These are highly underrated, in my opinion, and you all show what they're capable of. 

Now, back to the regularly scheduled smack talk.

Completely % agree. We’d have viewing parties in college when it came to the Yankees vs Red Sox back in the early 2000s. Good times.

Pedro, Ortiz, Manny, Varitek ... Jeter, Clemens, Jorge, Bernie ... man, those were some classic matchups. 

And to be clear, I don’t so much mind the Sox, Celtics, Bruins, Revolution and whomever else plays in Boston. 

It just that suburban football team that is chock full of d-bags that I cannot stand.

Baseball is struggling. Still love the sport but not the product. Miss the 90s and 2000s games. Always good playoffs. Just too bad it went downhill
