Welp, that’s the worst round of the challenge for me... at this point, I’m deciding which screenshots of my “adventures” make the cut. Need to work on some consistency apparently...

Yes, that’s a 49 yard drive off the opening tee.

That ain’t the right fairway. Nor are you supposed to be on the previous hole’s teebox for your third.

“Wait, it’s where?!?” - me to the group on the 8th hole. Not cart path aided. Must have been doping before that shot...

You need to light the afterburner my son. I'm still team VenomSpitter but we're DFL right now.

Had a fun time playing with my oldest son and my dad today.  My father in law couldn’t make it so @Lacassem’s brother played with us.

I shot a smooth even par 27 with 5 GIR and 4 up and downs.  I wish I could make all approach shots like that on a regular course!  The holes varied today from a low of about 90 yards to a long of 170.  It was a surprising mix of looks with some up and down hill too.

None of my shots really tracked to the flag as I was favoring a cut shot today that I never started far enough left.  I was happily pin high a lot so I’ll take it.  Here are a few pics from the day:

Jackson hit the ball really well on this hole here and might have had made the green but it tailed off into the environmentally sensitive area and was unfortunately lost.  He still had a great time though!  It was a really good hit, just to a bad spot.  I told him Daddy does that all the time too.

This is awesome!  As a kid I grew up on a course like this, and even still it's nice to mix it up on a short course which levels the playing field of different skill levels

I did make it out to my local course yesterday and I did avoid a heat stroke thanks to an isolated shower that pleasantly  interrupted my round between the 5th and 6th holes.

I was striking the ball well on the first hole and almost sunk a long birdie putt from just off the green, then after a good drive on the second I hit a series of horrible shots that made me wonder if the effort was worthwhile in the heat.

The Good,

The Bad,

And The Uglier!

Clint Eastwood Mad In Gran Torino Gif  What's going on here?

I tried to refocus. Hit pretty nice drive into some newly arriving wind gusts as it started to sprinkle, followed by a 9 iron shot that danced around the pin that I thought was going to really good and turned out to be competitive at least. But I missed the little downhill slider for birdie.

image.png.18976af6a4263ed0ebf3a11806db09ea.png

IMG_2295.JPG.02171b37645bf98b099857b2f3d6a2d5.JPG

The shot landed below the hole then stopped above the hole which appeared to be much closer from fairway view. At this time the greens were very firm. This was a high nine iron into a fairly stiff breeze and still hopped 15 feet from ball mark.

IMG_2294.JPG.0ba53cbf0da6ba7e724b51708e660ae6.JPG

Then the shower interupted play for about a half hour. I just set in my cart under a canopy of trees and waited it out. Once the rain stopped next up a par 3 6th hole.

I pulled the 9 iron off the tee but distance was spot on.

image.png.c5cdb3ae6f16b092ceddece228ea9d1c.png

And I made a really nice putt! Not sure why I measured this one I knew it was further away than the previous hole. But turned out  nice to know the exact length since I holed the putt.

IMG_2293.JPG.820442d2e0adf765d6e4fa8c65a66f96.JPG

With the rain soften greens this 9 iron shot stopped quickly and spun back. next up the par 5, 7th hole.

Wait for it...Jim Rome is Burning' Apparently Moving to ESPN2 - Sports Media Watch  This is my entry for closest to the hole challenge this week!

My magic ONE length 7 iron to the rescue after a mediocre drive and a pulled 5 wood that I thought may have gone into the creek but stopped in the rough.

Yes I made the putt.

The last two holes were anticlimactic and after slightly more than two hour front nine I decided I had enough.

Last Tuesday morning before work round of the season. Amazing how quickly summer (and this challenge) has gone by! Somewhat sad morning as a result.
It was probably a little too dark to tee off when I did and it ended up hurting my score. Pushed my opening drive right, heard it hit a tree, but I figured I'd find it no problem even though I couldn't see it bounce or land. I was unable to find the ball and, with a group waiting on the tee behind me already, I ended up just dropping a ball where I thought I had landed and taking the extra penalty strokes for doing so.
20200901.thumb.gif.c6693c96e08813f6ec04d1db56a796b1.gif
I just couldn't get going over the first four holes and was +10 already standing on No. 5 tee. But, thankfully, something clicked and I played some pretty decent golf the rest of the way. I ended up playing holes 5-12 at even par, highlighted by an eagle on the par 5 No. 9 hole. First eagle ever on this hole. In airing my frustrations I opted to pull driver and hit it 268 yards up the hill, leaving about 170 yards to the flag. Pulled 7 Iron, found a lot of air through one tree and ended up on the fringe at the back of the green. Hit a perfect chip with my 54 and watched it roll down and right into the hole! No matter how the rest of the round went, it's always a great day when you pull off a hole like that! (Note the Arccos distances are not quite right, I lasered the 7 iron so I know it went closer to 175 yards and was back near the bunker not front left as the image shows.)
Screenshot_20200901-102206.jpg.f737f8bb2e0ede864fb3cffe1ba77cf4.jpg
I hit some nice drives today working with the swing changes from my lesson last Thursday. I did unfortunately find a few trees in the process, but I hit five drives on 14-18 that were all 250 yards or longer, highlighted by a 293-yard bomb on No. 17.

OK EVERYONE

Time to announce our Group Halloween Costume Winner....

This challenge was a fun one to get to know the full compliment of Cobra ambassadors. You guys definitely embraced the halloween aspect of this challenge....some of those pictures were downright scary. @Peaksy68's rendition of Lexi improving her lie may not be our winner, but, my God, was it memorable. Yeesh.

First, let's do some honorable mentions:

@Nunfa0 and his rendition of the whole crew was particularly fun and well-edited:

image.png

@MaxEntropy got some bonus points from Cobra for actually having the man himself in the picture. Very nice dedication (even though it was from last year):

image.png

@jddaigneault and his commitment to the entire outfit and a story to accompany. Can't wear that orange without someone on the course calling you out for looking like Rickie:

image.png

But, the winner was actually unanimous. With big LOLs and an extremely accurate depiction, our winner of the Puma shoes this week is going to be........ @knightsofnii with his uber-accurate rendition of Duffnering:

image.png

Congrats on your win this week. Send me a PM with your shoe size and shipping address to get them sent along!

Congrats @knightsofnii
