Nice. I need to hop over to the SuperSpeed forum and see how those are working for our fellow MGSpiers ... would love to pick up an extra 5mph of swing speed across the board.

I have the SKLZ Gold Flex and mainly use it as a stretch and warming up tool during those early morning rounds.

I use the Gold Flex as well, combo'ed with some stretches. Works wonders.

@edingc  some discussion about the topline of the SZ irons went on when they debuted.  Did you find the carbon distracting?

Agree totally with @daviddvm. I honestly didn't really notice the carbon fiber. The first thing I noticed is they did have a slightly larger footprint than what I'm used to, but a few swings and results really made me forget about anything I didn't like about them.

I was lucky to be able to swing the HZRDUS smoke yellow in the Tour Length but it didn’t have the extra head weight. But my strike location was already much tighter with that than the standard length. Really looking forward to playing the TL as I’ve been choking up on the M5 and getting much better results than trying to swing it at 45.25. I was going to trim it down and regrip it but I’ll prob just wait now. I might send that shaft to my fitter to put the cobra tip on and if that’s the case I’ll have him trim it down to TL as well.

In my fitting, I ended up with a shorter shaft for the F9 driver.

I'm wondering if this is a trend, or if we are just a few outliers.

I agree with you about the Modus 105s. I had those shafts (possibly an older version, not sure) in a Titleist AP1 set a few years back, and I hated them vehemently. As mentioned earlier, the tip was so soft that I had no confidence I could strike the ball solidly.

They still suck, can’t play golf, and smell like boiled cabbage, but they sure can talk about golf as if they knew how to play it.

Hey my grandfather always said "if you're gonna play like $h!t at least look good doing it" thats why my hat has to match! He didn't have the science behind clubs back in his day so I have no good quotes from him for shaft kick points....Sorry...

This has been a fun thread, but ... what are the rules around the competition once the gents get their clubs?

And who’s taking side-bets for the player with the best handicap stats within the ARCCOS data for driving, putting, etc ... 😎

Typically, the rules are announced once all the competitors receive their full set up. Traditionally there is a weekly competition for the players and something for the forum members to chime in with.
If you have an Arccos account, you can find the competitors and sneak a peak at the stats so the side-bets could be tough to keep honest.
Without looking, I'm gonna say that GB13 is gonna have the best approach stat, edingc is gonna have the best driving stat, daviddvm will have the best chipping stat, Headhammer will have the best putting stat, and while not an official Arccos stat, B.Boston is gonna have the best stat for watching his NFL team go from first to worst.

While I cannot speak to the accuracy of most of your statements. The New England Patriots will in no way will end up in last place even if they take several significant steps backwards. They still have the JETS, BILLS, and DOLPHINS in their division.

I suspect the biggest difference will be a loss of feeling exactly where I hit the ball on the face. I played cast clubs up until the PTMs, so I don't think it will be a huge adjustment. I definitely didn't feel like the SpeedZones felt "off" or anything. They certainly felt explosive and the ball speed numbers confirmed that.

Tried both the Ventus Black and Motore X F3. Preferred the Motore X and the numbers were better, too. Josh was real honest about it and said the Aldila Rogue Silver produced just as good as numbers for me (given my swing at the moment) and he would not recommend spending money on the Motore.

I think I topped driver out at about 103 yesterday. I've said it before I think, but I generate way more speed with my irons than driver/woods. Some of that is because of my AoA - if I swing any faster I just spin the ball more. I have a few drills to work on to try to get it more leveled out. I do suspect the shorter shaft (he did not have any tour length shafts) will help me some, as my driving with the shortened Epic Flash has been so much better.

EDIT - Confirmed with Josh I actually hit the F3.

That's interesting re: driver vs iron speed. I feel like I'm the complete opposite and hit driver disproportionately further than my other clubs.

^^^ that’s me. I definitely generate more speed in irons in proportion to what I should be able to get out of driver.

My high end for 4i (one length) on course (Arccos) is 230 yards. Skytrak can back that up at 210 carry 220 total for good shots.

I usually lose a tiny bit of distance from the same degree head in a wood (Cobra Ltd 41.5” 19* 5w), but like the spin and descent angle better for holding greens so I rotate them. I can’t confirm club head speed (skytrak doesn’t measure it), but I think my club head speed w a 41.5” 65g graphite shafted wood is about the same or slightly less than a 37” 4 iron w a c taper 120.

Honestly, for me, it's probably a physiological reaction to having very little confidence in not slicing it off the planet if I swing harder? I can generate loads of speed with the SuperSpeed sticks, and a "dry" driver swing without a ball usually registers 112-114 on the same radar, or probably 108-110 with a "real" radar like Trackman. Those numbers would be more in line with an 87 MPH 7-iron.

I did have a lesson today (I'll probably create a post over in my work in progress thread), and we completely changed my driver setup and I started seeing better results. The one Trackman shot my coach sent me had 101 MPH club speed, 153 MPH ball speed, +2 AoA and +0.8 in-to-out for a carry of 245 with range balls. Massive change, it's now just being able to do it consistently.

Yessir. That’s exactly it ... it’s really hard to have your hands keep up with your arms & body and have them roll and rotate through the swing. And to further that, it’s a severe mental block for many of us once we’re on the tee box ... and not be afraid it’s going to sweep off into the clouds.

I had my fitting today and it went really well!! I’ll type up a full report on it later tonight, but here’s a spoiler... I owe a full blown apology to Nippon after my (harsh) words about the Modus 105s.
(Read teeny-tiny dispersion circle with consistent contact)

Haha! I look forward to reading your apology letter. Sounds like you have a great fit, cant wait to see what you ended up with.

Looking forward to the results. I've never tried Nippon shafts before but they were third on my fitting recommendation behind Project X LZ and something else.
