I don't have a handicap, shoot around 100, but my mates and I just have always played from the blue. Which is the second longest behind the championship tees. Some days they are moved forward, some they are moved back. The course I play changes them up too. My wife plays the yellow, closest, some days those are 20-30 yards in front of mine or just 10. 

Never really thought about playing off other tees. Good question!

I play whatever the group is playing. It keeps me on my toes and having to hit different shots. When playing alone, I play as far back as I can where the longest Par 3 is under 210 (4 iron).

Trial and error. I've found that I am comfortable up until 6800y. Longer than that and I'll start to struggle to be able to reach the par 4's in regulation. Anything shorter I have a chance to shoot 7
