robertson153
I start the season with 2 dozen. I usually don’t lose any, but, I do hit trees, cart path, blade them, etc. But, 2 dozen will last me from April-October easy. I buy 5a no logo used balls, ProVs, so around $60-$70 a year. Kenny B
I don't buy many balls. I usually get a dozen for Christmas, but I still have 2 dozen of the original Kirkland Signature balls to use up. Except for 2 weeks in January when I travel somewhere warm, I don't play them in the winter, so they have lasted for a few years. Maybe they will be gone by the end of the year. I do have a partial dozen of PV1X to use also. If I had to guess... maybe $40/year. I always start a round with 2 balls, swapping them every hole; most times I still have them at the end of the round. There have been times that I have lost both of them in a round, but that's rare. Balls that make it through a round and are starting to show wear, are used on the holes where I have opportunity to lose one. Better to lose one of those instead of a new ball, I say. I had one ball that I used on the 6 water holes at my course for a month. It was my "lucky ball"... until it wasn't. MDGolfHacker
Ugh...I'm not going to lie...for 18 I'll go through anywhere from 1-6 balls. Mostly lost off the tee. I'll usually stock up on Srixon Zstars when they go BOGO so that's $20 per dozen. I like to have at least a minimum of 4 dozen in reserve in the garage. I'll spend $50-$100 per year on balls. I'd say pretty much the same - I try to bring at least 9 balls in my bag for every round. I recently stocked up on 4a Srixon Q-Star Tours and they've been treating me well - I spent $60 CAD on 5 dozen, that should last me a while. Middler
I only play Snell MTB’s (currently going from Black to X) and I buy 4-5 dozen at a time for the volume discount. That usually lasts me 5-6 months, but it depends on how much I’m playing and how many I lose which can vary considerably. It’s rare I make it around without losing a ball, and I’ve lost 5 in a round once or twice (off the tee mostly). I don’t wear out many. So I spend about $25/month on golf balls, but it varies considerably. Probably more accurate to say I average about $6/round on golf balls. My wife doesn’t quite understand why I lose any golf balls... cnosil
Haven’t bought balls in years. I have a bunch of pro v1, z star, TP5 type balls that I have foundI can typically make it through a a round with a single ball. Probably average one lost ball every 3 rounds. DaveP043
I too play the Snell MTB, buy them in bulk (5 doz for about $27/doz), and that usually lasts me 9 months to a year. Call it a 10 month season, that works out to be something like $15/month. tony@CIC
too many doz to count since I play 170+ rounds a year. It's less about losing them and more about they're getting scuffed up. Those get thrown into my shag bag for practice. I generally buy 5A used for day to day, but new Pro V1X for tournaments. Kanoito
I usually play about 60 rounds per year and always buy 5 dozen, even if I have some left from last season. I can use one ball to play 3 rounds or lose 3 balls in 1 round... so hard to tell... den748
Depends how many "serious" rounds I play in. I go against the MyGolfSpy advice of always playing the same ball. My friday night golf league is a 2 person scramble league and I'll play some used E6 Soft balls I buy from LostGolfBalls.com and might go through 18-24 a month. So not super expensive. If I play a round where I'm doing more than just practicing and am trying for a score I'll lose from 1-4 a round. I play ProV1, so 4-6 "real" rounds a month starts to add up. Now that the background is out of the way, I'd say on average through the playing season I'm around $50 a month. Which just got really depressing to think about. BMart519
I either buy used AAAA quality Bridgestone or Srixon when they go BOGO. So approximately $2/ball, average 1-2 balls per round between loss and wear. So $20/month max. Nic
I lose a ball every other round, and toss scuffed ones into the shag bucket. The balls I use are not expensive (Bridgestone e6, Taylormade project A) so I spend about $30 or so per month on average.
CarlH
I buy golf balls 5 dozen at a time (Snell) and generally play a new ball every round. When I get down to one dozen balls left, I reorder. Given that I play on average 3-4 rounds a week with a new ball, I guess I go through a bit more than a dozen a month ... so $28-35, give or take.
