fixyurdivot
I received my personalized AlignXL balls yesterday. Inside the box of Titleist ProV1's was a card from golfballs.com with a personal message - nice touch!! It sounds like the "Align XL" product has really caught on and very popular. Not having played a round or practiced since the PNW Meet-up a couple weeks ago, I'm anxious to get a round in tomorrow and start assessing how this marking works. heavygolffeels
Shipment arrived last night! I have been practicing putting 2 or 3 times a week during my lunch break and tried to get out today, but they just sanded and punched the greens. Just my luck! Anyway, took the opportunity to take a few photos. First thoughts are that the alignment aid looks great. I love the 180 degree look, and the text is very well done. Very minor imperfections that are no where near noticeable from even a foot away. After worked I stopped my my home course where the greens are in decent shape. Got a really good practice session in. I normally use the manufacture alignment aid, and I can already tell the AlignXL is so much easier to set up with. Seems to mirror the alignment aid on my putter. And when standing over it trying to place your aim point, it is so much easier to get a sense of where it is actually aimed and how you need to adjust it. Remains to be seen if that ends up increasing accuracy and made putts, but right now it is confidence inspiring. fixyurdivot, HardcoreLooper, GolfSpy_SHARK and 1 other 4 Quote GARSEN GRIP TESTER Driver: PING G400 MAX, Ventus Blue 6x Woods: COBRA F6 Baffler AD DI 8S Hybrid: CALLAWAY Apex Pro, Ventus Blue 8s Irons: SRIXON ZX5 mk2 5-6, ZX7 mk2 7-PW, Modus 120x Wedges: EDEL 50 C grind, 54 V grind, CLEVELAND 60 RTX6 Low Putter: YES Abbie! Mtbryant01
Really got to dive into doing some testing today. I am working on compiling some data on putts between different alignments/no alignment. Something I found interesting today. I played the par 3 course today, 18 holes. I used the same Align XL ball the whole time. Here is the before and after pictures. The marking for the 180 degree line seems to come off a little easier than I was hoping it would. Some of the ink had definitely come off on one side of the line and the other side had a couple nicks in it as well. It still didn’t mess with my eye sight and still helped me line up my shots/putts. twyatt700, Nolan220, GolfSpy_SHARK and 2 others 5 Quote Cobra Connect 5 participant G410 Plus, w/ X stiff 75 g Project X Evenflow Black shaft driver / Radspeed w/ Smoke RDX Blue 70S shaft Big Tour 3 wood/ 5 wood w/ Fujikura X F3 60S shaft 4 Hybrid w/ Project X Catalyst 80S shaft Copper MIM Tour Irons w/ KBS $ Taper Balck 120S shaft Snakebite 50, 54, and 58 wedges w/ KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 125S shaft Newport 2.5 putter MTB X golf balls RH, Alabama

If it was any other ball, I don’t think I line it up every time. That was also with an iron off the tee for 18 holes as compared to a driver. fixyurdivot
I played Madison Meadows yesterday (Ennis, MT) - an opportunity to test the AlignXL and get a Hard Rock round onto the ledger. Prior to playing, I spent some time on the practice green comparing the AlignXL (AXL), Truvis (TV), and Triple Trac (TT). Now a little about my putting game and method for alignment.... lackluster and variable sum it up well . That is to say it's not the strongest part of my game and I tend to not be very consistent in use of ball align marks. I have never done the Sharpie Stripe thing - though have found some balls with that and have used it. My current putt routine involves; looking at the roll from both sides, most often using whatever OEM align mark is on the ball to serve as a visual of the putt line, a couple of practice strokes, and contact I became a fan of viewing the putt from both sides a few years ago, emulating one of the guys in Yuma who is a really good putter. It often floored me after the fact to walk to my second putt and say to myself (or sometimes out loud) "well for hell sakes, no wonder" . My use of ball align marks is inconsistent - and I rarely use them for putts longer than ~12 ft. During my MaxFli Tour and Tour X testing last year, I was using the "CG Balanced" line consistently, both off the tee and on the green, in attempt to see what if any benefit it offered. It was mostly from this testing that I started using align marks more frequently. So yesterday, I just wanted to see how these different bold style marks looked visually. I used one of each and probably made 50+ putts with each. No data capture, just spent time rolling them from varied lengths to see if a pattern developed and whether I liked them visually. None stood out from a make/miss standpoint and at this point I would say the AXL is a wee bit more appealing to my eye than the TT. The TV I simply don't understand. I used its smaller OEM align mark but the pattern offered me nothing in the form of putting... if anything I found it distracting. My next tests will be using these same balls on a practice green and capturing some make/miss data. I'll also be playing the AXL in rounds to see if its very bold stripe helps and how it holds up. This is what one looked like after 9 holes yesterday. twyatt700
Been compiling some data on 5’ and 10’ feet puts comparing the Triple Track (TT) and the Align XL (AXL). Preliminary data is showing a slight advantage to the AXL at this point. I typically use the manufacturer line for puts and am a + 3.5 hcp putter on Arccos, my eye took a little bit to get used to the AXL compared to the TT. But I’m seeing the line better with the bold single line so far. Plan to get some on course testing done this week. heavygolffeels
Got out Saturday to the local course - Trilogy Golf Club at Power Ranch. Played in the afternoon when it was scorching, but I a nice breeze kept it enjoyable. First time putting the AlignXL in play, after several practice sessions, so I was excited. I don't normally worry about placement of the ball when I tee up, but I found the AlignXL to be "potentially" distracting. What I mean is, when it's placed randomly on the tee at some point the line will be visible and be pointing in the wrong direction. When there is trouble to the left or right, I find my OCD wont let me swing when the ball is pointed that way, so I need to move it. I'm not sure if that means I need to aim it where I want it, or just place it underneath the ball or more around the equator where the visual doesn't mean anything, but there is some sorting out to be done. Could be a positive as when the line is set up correctly it's a good reference for setup. This is number 10 where my line was right over the right bunker. I made sure the AlignXL matched my target and hit a beautiful drive. Not my best putting round. Shot 78, with 34 putts. 0 birdies despite hitting 10 GIR. Was automatic from 5-6 feet, but besides one 10 footer to save par on #6, I didn't make anything memorable. That's putting though. Most of my misses were more speed related than line related if that is possible. Here's a downhill birdie putt that I felt I had a pretty good read and was lined up, but left 2 feet short. Definitely more testing to be done. Will start collecting data soon, along with some comparisons to other alignment aids. No early durability concerns, Used the same ball for 18 holes, 78 shots. 2 bunker shots. 2 hardpan/desert shots. I generally find the Srixon Z star XV to be very durable, and even more so in yellow, and the AlignXL is holding up very well. I’m curious if you placed the line more on the top of the golf ball or on the back side to where the club makes contact. Nope, when I had the chance to place the ball, either on the green or teebox, my placement was with the line on top which kinda of unintentionally safeguards the line. For other shots, I just played the ball as it lies just like any other round of golf. If I notice any abnormalities, than I may try a test more like you are doing, but so far the durability has been solid. We'll see what happens when I hit a tree or cart path. And of course good luck with the testing can’t wait to read aboutnit Quote Check out my reviews: G710 Irons Official Review I MC Shaft & V Series Putter Official Review 2022 Forged Tec's Official Review I Nitron Push Cart Official Review WITB: Weapons of grass destruction (link to WITB) Traverse is filled with all this shiny metal and tracked by RadSpeed 8* - MotoreX F1 6X SIM 3W - Project X HZRDUS Green U505 Driving Iron 17* - Project X HZRDUS Black SpeedZone 4H - Project X HZRDUS Black 2022 King Forged Tec's 4-PW - KBS $ Tape 130 48 (SM8), 52 & 60 (SM7) - Nippon Modus 125 S ER2VI PROV1X #19 Are you a veteran? Mtbryant01
@Nolan220 I believe it did help me visualize my line I wanted to hit a little better off the tee. My shot I like to hit right now off the tee is a fade, so I think it helped me line up better at the start. Unfortunately, it didn’t magically unlock the secret to hitting 14/14 fairways, BUT it was sweet watching it take off on the exact line you intended. Like @Lacassem said, I didn’t line up the ball except for on the tee and on the green. I’m really liking the alignment aid on the green. It’s helping me commit to the line especially on the breakers. fixyurdivot, Nolan220 and GolfSpy_SHARK 3 Quote Cobra Connect 5 participant G410 Plus, w/ X stiff 75 g Project X Evenflow Black shaft driver / Radspeed w/ Smoke RDX Blue 70S shaft Big Tour 3 wood/ 5 wood w/ Fujikura X F3 60S shaft 4 Hybrid w/ Project X Catalyst 80S shaft Copper MIM Tour Irons w/ KBS $ Taper Balck 120S shaft Snakebite 50, 54, and 58 wedges w/ KBS Hi-Rev 2.0 125S shaft Newport 2.5 putter MTB X golf balls RH, Alabama
