There’s some irony when contemplating the market for watches in 2020.

Specifically, it’s a situation where the original purpose of the item is no longer a defining selling point.

Remember when the primary, if not the only, purpose of a watch was to keep time? Me neither.

It’s a reasonable assumption that time is anything but of the essence; golfers are far more interested in all of the golf-related stuff that this piece of wearable technology does.

The SkyCaddie LX5 GPS watch is built around the architecture of the SX500which was named the “Best Handheld GPS” in MyGolfSpy’s annual Most Wanted testing.

It offers an abundance of bundled golf technology, and did I mention it also tells time. Ain’t that something?

Yes, Samsung watch with the Taylor made app.

Using Garmin G80 or Laser Range finder from Costco. (The Taylor made app was to bothersome, but I like the info provided about my game)

I have used SkyCaddie SGX and the SkyCaddie SX400. Additionally, I have used Visage and some other cart GPS devices. Visage is easily my favorite.

Currently, I use a Bushnell Pro XE in conjunction with my SX400 as my current method of determining yardage. My Pro XE tells me the pin distance while the GPS tells me yardages to the back, front and carry yardages over the bunkers, etc...

Driver: TM SIM Max 9 | plays at 8.25 | BB 6x untipped cut to 45"

Fairway: Ping G 14 | plays at 14 | DI 7x tipped half inch, cut to 43"

UDI: (20) Srixon u65 | plays at 20 | KBS Proto Tour Hybrid 85s 39.75 | half degree upright

Irons: (4-9) Srixon z765 | plays standard loft, 9i one degree weak | KBS C-Taper Lite X half inch long | half degree upright

Wedges: (46-58) Ping Glide 2.0 | plays standard loft, 58 one degree weak | DG Tour Issue S400s half inch long | half degree upright

Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport 2.5 (new to the bag, specs unknown)
