Sunnies, shades, sunglasses, whatever you call 'em... whatchu got?

As best I can tell, there hasn't been much talk about sunglasses other than in a generic sense or a brand mention here or there. But if you're putting something over your eyes, let's spend a little more time thinking about how they'll affect our play.

So what's your take?

Sunglasses or no? Polarized or not? Pink/rose lenses? Brown? Grey? Bottom edge on your frame or open?

I wear Tifosi polarized whenever I leave the house and it is sunny. I get headaches when I don't wear sunglasses and it is too bright out.

I have Oakley Prizm for golfing, and I bought the Goodr brand golf sunglasses to try as well. The Goodr give me the sensation that the ground under the ball has bulged-up a bit. Sort of weird. I only use the Oakleys when I choose to wear glasses when I play, which isn’t every round...

I also have 3 pairs Tifosi and for the price, can't go wrong. I haven't used them lately cause I just got too lazy to wear contacts and now I have clip-ons in my prescription glasses.

I'm a self admitted sunglass hoe, but I have toned it down in recent years.  I've owned way too many of the usual brands (Oakley, Rayban, Persol, etc.) but the pair that I keep reaching for are Oakleys.   Sliver frames with Prizm Daily Polarized are my go to for day to day.  When it comes to the golf course I switch over to Prizm Golf Dark lenses for spring-summer and regular Prizm Golf lenses for the late fall through the winter.  All are full frames and the golf lenses aren't polarized.  Both golf lenses are a pink base and the daily polarized are a grey base with what seems like a purple hue mixed in.

I'm a bit of a sunnies snob. Many, many years ago started with Ray-Ban. Then about 20 years ago I switched to Revo and that's all I'll wear for every day use at the moment. I'm currently wearing the Outlanders...same as these.

I had been eyeing (bazinga) the Goodr glasses as well. A lot of my runner friends love them for running (and for $25...) but I wasn't sure about for golf.

I've got a pair of Oakley TwoFace's with polarized lenses and I wear them most rounds, but there's not enough contrast for me to follow the ball off the clubface. Haven't noticed any issues reading greens, but I mostly play Bermuda, so good luck reading that anyways...

I use the oakely prizm dark lenses in the oakley crossrange frames and really enjoy them. I dont typically wear them when I play as I am not used to playing in lenses, but I regularly wear them on the range and they are excellent. Just havent gotten up the courage to wear sunglass during a normal round of golf

I purchased a pair of Oakley Prizm golf sunglasses over the winter.  Wore them for awhile early in the season but did not like them.  Even the light lenses  did not allow me to follow the ball in the air.

I recently got a pair of Vuarnet sunglasses with a yellow lense and tried them out for a round last Saturday.  By far the best sunglasses I have worn for golf.  Easy to follow ball in the air and no issues reading greens with them on.  Not what I planned on using them for but will stay in my golf bag for now.

I have a problem with losing or breaking sunglasses somehow. So after breaking my first pair of Raybans, I decided I'm going cheap for now on. I wanted a cheap pair that keeps snug on my face and is polarized. I stumbled across Goodr sunglasses in a running store for $25 and decided to try them out. I have loved them and definitely suggest them if you are looking for something cheap. You can get different color lenses/frame that fit your style.

I typically wear my RX Costas (polarized) when I play, but after hearing Sir Nick's comments regarding Phil wearing glasses when he plays, I've been trying to play more without mine.

Sir Nick said wearing polarized glasses can affect a player's ability to read greens. Incidentally, I had my best putting round without wearing sunglasses. Who knows.

This is basically exactly what my neighbor has done and he can wear his brown lenses almost all the way to dusk. Meanwhile, unless it's an ultra-bright day and/or I'm hitting directly into the sun, I have trouble tracking shots with my black polarized lenses

I had a pair of Oakley Oil Can's with the brown lens and it worked so well when I got the Costa's they had the same option.  I would highly recommend it.  I just hate carrying  my regular pair of glasses with me onto the course so if I go into the clubhouse to eat, I'm the jackass still wearing sunglasses inside, but it's because they are prescription.

I have prescription glasses with progressive lenses.  I have been wearing Wiley-X prescriptions for over 10 years....Currently on my 3rd frame.  I panic if I leave them at home, so I keep them in my golf bag.  I have tried putting without them and I seem to get little mounds between my ball and the cup, whereas, the progressive lenses seem to straighten the green out.

If its super sunny I'll wear sun glasses, have a pair of Oakley flak jackets. It has to be polarized, makes 100% difference in my opinion.

For anytime sunglasses, I absolutely love these cheap polarized amazon ones from a brand called Merry's. Surprisingly good quality for 12 bucks.

I played all last year in Ray-Ban Original Wayfarers polarized and liked them. However, I'm currently looking at Oakleys. Particularly at the Dark Prizm Golf lenses. Haven't quite decided on which frame, it's between the Flak 2.0 XL and the Portal X. Decided it has to be the Dark (not Black) Prizm for brighter sun. I can play w/o glasses in cloudy weather. I've decided I don't want Polarized. I'd prefer the Prizm as they provide better definition. Now just need to snag a great deal on them.

1/26 Update: Acquired a pair of Oakley Portal X with Prism Dark Golf lenses. I tried on the Portal X and the Flak 2.0 XL and preferred the fit and coverage of the Portal X. I like the D Prism Dark Golf for the visibility and the improved definition over my polarized Ray-Bans  I was able to take them outside and test for visibility an sun protection ( it's winter here, with ice and snow) When the sun was out, they were great for light reduction. With some overcast the still allowed my good visibility and definition. On darker cloudy days, I don't wear sunglasses. I used to take my glasses off to putt. I'm going to try putting while wearing these, to determine if the increased definition helps.

So I had Oakley flak jackets with changeable lenses for all different colored golf shirts.....unfortunately in all sports I go 💯 and they popped off my head during a basketball game with my nephew...they were stepped on and very broken so I’m in the market.....

anyone have some suggestions for ones like the flak jacket? I’ll probably get them again because they’re nice and light

I'm sporting a pair of bicycle shades my wife got me for Christmas.  They go from clear to dark as the sun changes, so they're perfect for riding my bicycle or playing golf.  I also have a pair of Tifosi glasses that I like.  Both pair are wrap around style.

Look at Tifosi. They have a couple of styles similar to the Flak Jacket.

I need prescription sunglasses. My first pair was a set Of Oakley's with prizm lens. The lenses kept popping out and after many times putting them back in the thin edge cracked.

Currently using REKS - half the price of Oakleys; quality is just as good. High quality Trivex Lenses.

Tried our the Flak 2.0 with dark golf lense. Didnt like there was a small plastic piece that was visible on the outside of each lense when wearing. Switched to half jacket with same lense and there great. If its sunny enough i'm squinting i think i'm better off wearing sunglasses than not. The lenses do make the grass stand out a bit.
