Adding to the above comment above. Even if you don’t leave it setup all the time; I don’t, you can be up and running in minutes.

I think you mean you can be up and running in minutes.  I know mine is and I take it down each time as it's in a high traffic area.

Haven't had the chance to play since getting this, but I can definitely tell that as my mega putt session went on I was getting more putts in and more of the misses left much closer .. so looking forward to more practice time!!

@cnosil - based on earlier comments you'd made about lighting problems, I put a reading lamp behind and to the side of my mat and it seems to help as my system startup has not given me any messages about poor lighting...

Just got caught up on this whole thread and you guys are killing it!
Like others have said I am really intrigued to see how this helps with distance control.  That seems to be my biggest issue causing 90% of my 3 putts.

This may just be what I need to pass the time during the long cold a$$ Iowa winters😂

That is what I was going to mess around with next time I set it up.  I am guessing that it isn't about how  much light is in the room but how much is on the mat.   Having enough light on the mat enables the camera can see the various marks.

Well... At a loss tonight. I set-up the Exputt in the bedroom again, and again tonight it had trouble giving me path numbers to start. I brought in another lamp, moved it around some, and it finally started to pick-up. BUT.... For some reason my path went from 2.9* average in-to-out, to now 5.9* in-to-out. Really odd.

I then moved the Exputt across the room and tried again. Same thing..... No matter what I did on the through swing, it was showing in-to-out. I moved the lamp, changed the ball, even changed to my Dad’s putter, and STILL 5* plus in-to-out. I finally got frustrated enough that I packed it up for the night. I wish there were a way to calibrate it........

Anyway. I’m going to move it back to the front room tomorrow and see what happens.

It's always possible it may be a faulty camera or processing unit... Maybe try their tech support - and mention you're an MGS tester!

That was my guess too - initially I was gonna bounce the lamp light off the ceiling, in order to avoid shadows, but then just pointed it right at the mat and the system seems to like it.

My skytrak (camera based) likes LED bulbs (with "frosted" plastic covers) and incandescent bulbs, but it hates fluorescent lights and CFL bulbs (especially with colored golf balls). Maybe its the type of lighting?

Hmm, interesting thought. A good question for Mo our contact at ExPutt.

As an fyi for the other testers, in my basement are standard incandescent floods and the reading lamp I added is halogen.

Just to give the other side of lighting issues. I've used mine in 3 different locations and not had one issue lighting.  Granted two of them were near windows during daytime, so there was some natural light.  The 3rd time was in one of the same rooms but at night and I had a floor lamp on like I normally would have had for reading.

Mo did say to make sure there isn’t a light source directly behind the mat, or in direct view of the camera as it can block reads. So, an open window, directly behind the mat, that has sun coming through, or a lamp/light directly behind, will all affect the camera.

That's good info .... But...

*ALL* this kinda stuff should be right up-front in the user guide! (clear & concise)

...I'll try a few putts each with and without the extra lamp to see if there's any difference.

Ease of use is paramount for a good user experience. If it only works when the constellations align, and there is a humidity of less than 50%, it becomes more of a headache than it is worth.

Hope you get it figured out.

Absolutely! For what they give you I'd have to say this is a pretty easy setup - especially now that we the testers have done the trial and error for you 😄😄😄

Oh and.. does seem to work fine without the reading lamp.

Running thru some practice mode variations and I feel I've uncovered not necessarily a fault but what I consider a lack of a better capability. More to come when the full review on Practice Mode gets posted.....
