That’s awesome! I was thinking of some way to have that glass bulb light-up when the club arrives!!! That would be cool!!!

When the club DOES arrive, just make sure to say, “This must be a major award! Look! It says FRAJEELAY!”

Box came in!

And when I opened it all I could say was "F-U-D-G-EEEEE"....only I didn't say fudge...

It's Indescribably Beautiful. It Reminds me of the 4th of July!

I am too! My buddy has a fairway wood from them I really like the look of as well; so far 2/2, Tour Edge is batting 1.000 for me.

Welp, the honeymoon phase might be over... 😥My dad and I hit the range yesterday and I was hitting some 20 yard hooks 😳. Wind wasn't helping, and it was a similar story throughout the bag. First negative experience with the club so far, I'll report back after a few more rounds to see if it may have just been a weird swing I was rocking today or if there might be a trend.

Side note: As far as size goes, the head is smaller than my Ping G400. Most likely because it is per say a pro version of they're hybrid. But its does not effect my ability to strike the ball. Plan this week it to Tee off with it as many times as possible and use on as many par 3 and 5's as I can. If I get a chance ill head into Edwin watts and get some launch monitor data for yall too.

Another range session in with the EXS Pro. Still impressed with the turf interaction. I did hit a few off a tee, and it was fine. Nothing super special about off the tee performance. But I hit a few out of my previous divots, and still got the ball up in the air.

I have a tee time tonight at a course near my work so I hope to get at least 9 holes in. Plan to use this club at every chance I get (even left the 3 wood at home to make sure) to see how it reacts in real grass. So far I have only hit it off a mat. I hope to get more than 9 in, but even it that is all that should give me at least 7 shots in real world playing condition to see how it plays. So far on my Mevo+ set up it has been WAY more consistently straight than my 3 wood (if not just a couple yards behind in distance). Hoping to see if the numbers I was seeing into a net look similar when I get true ball flight and roll out.

Whew, maybe not after all! Took this to league tonight, and thinking back on my round I honestly should have played it off the tee way more than I did. I don't have the fancy nice shot tracking some of y'all do, but I'll try to recreate something similar:

Hole #4: Par 5, 407yd sharp dogleg right that always seems to play straight into a headwind. Today was no different, and the wind exaggerated the shot shapes of each of the two guys before me, pushing both OB. The landing area of the fairway is about 40 yards wide, and only 60 yards from OB to OB. It's about 230-235 to carry the fairway bunker on the right. With a 10 mph headwind and two terrible previous tee shots (other clubs), I pulled the EXS Pro and striped it 240 with about a 3 yard draw. It landed about 2 inches into the rough, but I couldn't have asked for a better shot. This tee shot can be a knee knocker, especially when the wind is blowing, so feeling good over the ball is a premium. A+ here!

Hole #6: Par 4, 354yd, there's a creek and OB that runs up the right side, and OB left side as well. A tree partially obstructs your view of the left side, which makes it feel a tighter than it actually is, but this tee shot has given me fits this year. I pulled the so-far trusty EXS Pro, and teed it up. I had been chit-chatting during my pre-shot routine, and stood over the ball not feeling good about it at all. Decided not to step off, but didn't and hit the ground about 3 inches before the ball. Doesn't matter what club you're holding, that's not going to be a good result haha. Squirted it about 100 yards right into the creek. Took a drop and used the hybrid again, this time off the deck, a bare dead grass lie. Today there was a front pin, and I basically aimed dead middle of the green, trying to avoid leaking something right into the creek again. I overcorrected and pulled it a bit, but flew it straight about 245 (helping wind). Ended up pin high, only about 20 yards left of the pin. Especially considering the bare lie, I'd give it a B+.

Particularly off the tee the EXS Pro has been very reliable for me so far. So much so that I should probably be putting driver and 3W away more and pulling this. I'm hitting a bit longer course with some buddies Saturday, so more to come!

Still really enjoying the ball flight with this club. It is easy for me to get up in the air, and I tried some more bad lies to be sure. Today I also tested the anti-hook claims a bit, as I tried to hit it a bit of the toe and with a lot of hand action. It’s not hook proof, but it took a lot of effort to get a shot that started left and went further left.

I’m struggling a bit to upload a video, so I hope you enjoy some stills that I captured.

Ok so I guess its intro time... Just a lil info on me.

  • What kind of golfer are you? BOMB & GOUGE STYLE!!!

  • Handicap? 6.91 HCP VIA Arccos

  • Swing tempo? No clue, depends on the shot or lie or the wind or whatever Driver swing speed?110-112

  • Typical ball flight? Low & penetrating. Typical miss? Right or short or both lol…

  • Strengths/Weaknesses of your game? Diving and putting are my strengths and my weakness is chipping, I double chip too much. But, it is improving.

  • Current gamer and how did you choose it? 4 iron is Z585 love the looks of the club, nice that it’s forged as well. Right amount of forgiveness for me.   Were you fit? Yes

  • Your primary use for your hybrids? Long approaches? Fallback tee options? Rescue clubs? The hybrid was a choice for improving shots into longer par 3’s and a secondary option for tee shots on short par 4’s with tight fairways or lots of hazards.

  • Do you like taking chances with aggressive lines? YES, I do it allot, hence the bomb and gouge way of play…

  • How often can you reach par 5’s in 2? Most of the time, if I don’t its cause I miss the green.

  • What’s your typical club into par 4s? Wedges, not allot of full shots. But that has allot to do with A: the courses in my area and B: My driver….

OK so I went out and played last night with the intention of using this club as much as possible. I managed to hit it 14 times to mostly good success. I had intended to use my phone gps app to mark all these shots down, but my phone died so I had to go back and do this at home based on notes I took during the round.

TL;DR:
Took the club out and used it 14 times. Some not great shots, some awesome ones. Only managed to Hook the ball once, and it still stayed on my hole. So far it is doing a very good job at arguing itself into my bag! Close to the range of my 3 wood with an average of 242 yards over 10 normal shots (not including my punch shots or the clearly  miss-hit 189 yarder).

Hole 1: No warm up First shot off of grass...Decent hit with a slight draw 219 yards. Not the distance I was hoping for, but it was the first hit and down the middle. Who's going to complain....

Hole 3: After a long walk from the 2nd green, Pulled this shot a bit, but it didn't hook like my old hybrid would have on a pulled shot (which would have been bad since there is a road left of this hole). Got to my ball and was shocked at the distance...ready for it? 189 yards "Ok thats not good" ...Fingers crossed it was a fluke
image.png.c2ec8f18513f58a14deae8fc07bf8059.png

Hole 5: Another Pull! But again no hook. Stayed on my hole, though not by much. At least the distance is getting better. 246 yards on this one.

image.jpeg.59aa31a31e095a82e54dc8cc9b604974.jpeg

Hole 6: Par 5 515 yards slight uphill on first shot (Blind fairway as it above you). Hit a nice draw up thr right side of the fairway 257 yards. Left myself with 235 to front pin. Had it cut it a little/hit it over some trees..NO PROBLEM. Choked down a smidge and actually hit it about 253 to back edge of the green. Was playing a little down wind.
image.jpeg.51920e4d4b068e754886782a6d3f24bf.jpeg

image.jpeg.5e876bd3f9f21a08ee19a47042ee9099.jpeg

Hole 8: Downhill Down wind. Tried to hit a high hard draw, but pushed it off to the right a bit instead. Just into the rough about 241 considering the wind and downhill, was a bit disappointed in that distance. Small chance I clipped the edge of the tree, but probably not. Still in play!

Hole 9: Bombed it! 275 center fairway. Again a nice baby draw. Hit this one off a small tee.
image.jpeg.7f9092078cc02e998b9d551009e34e87.jpeg

Hole 10: First crack in the armor. I actually Hooked it! Was trying to fly it over the corner trees (205 to the trees) and swung a bit harder. The yellow line indicates the aprox path the ball took. So while I did get it to hook, the ball still stayed on my hole. 2nd shot left me 266 out from the rough but a good lie. Proceeded to push it through the trees just short of the green about 245.

image.jpeg.e0355512c92ec37c1458939ca91ebbe2.jpeg

image.jpeg.b421188373d1f53347917a9e39ee1b4e.jpeg

Hole 11: Playing 205 to pin, slight uphill, dead into wind. Figured this would be a good place to test some knockdowns. Threw 2 balls down, gripped about 2 inches down on and punched it. Both balls squirted right a little, but 1 was pin high and 1 was about 5 yards long. Pretty good!

Hole 12: 312 yard hole. Tried to hit another small draw, but it kept straight. Went through the fairway just into the rough. Another 241 shot. Side note, I decided to go ahead and play a 2nd ball on this hole with driver and manged to drive the green! Then promptly rushed to apologize profusely to the group that was still on said green...I didn't think I was going to get there...That's the Red line.

image.jpeg.6ae03dc3b1f63d3f98221e01d3d818f7.jpeg

Hole 13: Last hole I hit it on today, but hit it twice off the tee. Slightly uphill, lightly into wind. First shot 241was a normal swing high and straight. 2nd shot I tried to eek out a bit more so flighted it down and played for a draw and got it about 10 yards farther. Both Fairway. 227 yards.

So after my home "range" sessions and lasts night on course performance I can say that this club so far has been SUPER easy to get up in the air. I think my highest launch as gotten up to about 135ft. My old Mizuno 17* when trying to hit high got to maybe 98ft and averaged about 66ft. But when I want to I can still flight it down. Have hit solid shots as low as 45ft. That is a HUGE window to be able to play with depending on the needed shot. So far so good.

Completely agree, the one most consistent factor in my mind with this club is it has no problems launching with height from pretty much anything! I’m getting more used to the look, but do you think the face has a “hard” feel to it? It feels fast, no doubt there, but it also feels very stiff across the face in my opinion. Also, in some light conditions that glossy black is very very shiny. If they could mute the shine a bit, and soften the feel on the face just a bit this thing would be darn near perfect.

This thing is so straight and consistent. It's currently replacing the 4iron and doing a good job. I'm gonna get some range time with it tomorrow. Not much of a range junkie I like to just go play. So I've been using this for those first tee shots. No complaints. Screenshot_20200717-221508.jpeg

Range time. It just does what I want it to do. I see more now about the face having a different feel that some of the other testers talk about. But that for me is easy. To over look, because of the performance of the club.

Huh, I've never noticed when hitting mine, but watching that video it does sound a little "pingy". I'll have to specifically listen for that next time I'm out and see if it was a phone audio thing or if it's a real life thing. Would you say that video is pretty representative of what you hear?

Played the 20 degree EXS Pro Hybrid during an 18 hole round today and was impressed. I played it off the tee on 5 holes and hit the fairway on 4. And some of those shots were not good swings where a driver might have put me in trouble. Only one shot with the EXS went left of my aim point all day, and I hit it from rough and hardpan with good results. I had one abysmal lie in some weeds, ball below my feet in a little depression. Chose to play the EXS Pro and the ball came out like a low bullet, but still managed to find the fairway 180 yards down range. To say I’m very impressed with performance would be an understatement. My worst swings only gave up 10% of distance max.
That being said, I’m still not 100% sold on the look and sound, but that purely cosmetic and shouldn’t stop someone who is looking for an outstanding performing hybrid.

All I can say is that it doesn't sound like my Ping G400 hybrid. but, its not an issue. The fact this thing performs is all I care about. Some might not be able to get over certain cosmetic or looks issues, hell I used to play Cleveland HB Turbos and I loved those things.... So I only brought up the sound because others made comments about it and the dead feeling face.

Just shot my personal best round yesterday, and if I had to give one club the credit, it'd be the EXS Pro. My driver and 3w can get me in trouble, and I can be pretty inconsistent with my long irons. I took the EXS Pro off the tee 6 times and only hit 1 fairway, but was less than a yard off the fairway 2 times and 2 other times I was aiming away from trouble left and just hit dead straight, both times leaving me in the perfect bailout position. I only had 1 tee shot that ended up outside where I was hoping, which was an into-the-wind draw which would have been my typical 5-10 yard draw and just pushed it to more like a 20-25 yard draw left of the fairway. They were all 240-260, and I felt confident every time I had the club in my hand.

I only needed it once not including the tee shots, after I pulled my driver into a pond. I took the drop and needed to get up close to the green to make up for the drop shot, and hit a 255 yard bomb just short of the green.

I know some of the other reviewers have commented their not sold on the looks/feel/sound, but I've been absolutely loving all three. I look down and have 100% confidence, and love the sound. @Zen Snake already put up a good video, I'll see if I can get one myself. And when I've struck it out the center it feels like the club went right through the ball. I can get a little toey on my misses, and you can feel the clubhead gear but it is substantially for forgiving than the 3W and driver toe strikes I have.

Versatile..... 1st hole just an easy swing off #1 to get the round started. and its middle safe. 7th hole is an issue for driver and this was again an easy safe shot leaving me a great approach. 12th hole is and easy 2 hybrid shot safe off the tee and a confident shot to the green. letting that ego go and its working with the club. 14th grass to the left is deep and nasty and right is tons of trouble. Just step up hit it right down the middle and walla money shot.... and a lil wind pushed me off line on 16th but again the confidence over the ball is great. It keeps getting harder and harder to let thing go after the end of the testing. but I know who ever gets this monster will greatly appreciate it and it will make a difference in their game.

Managed to make it out to play again today and brought this guy with me again. I decided to play this round more like a standard round and see how often this club would come up and how it would perform when it’s selection might be more randomly needed. I ended up using it 7 times during the round. 4 times on Par 5s and 3 times for tee shots. All 3 of the tee shots found the fairways. For the approach shots on the Par 5s, most were too far out for me to realistically reach the green, but Twice I needed to go over trees to get back into play and both times it wasn’t even close (Cleared them easily)! Of the 7 shots, only 1 did I wish I had my 3 wood instead. It was an approach shot that was about 255 to pin and into the wind. My 3 wood MIGHT have been able to get there if caught just right, but also was more likely to miss badly with how hard I would have to swing to get it there. Not being able to reach the green may have even helped since I ended up in a perfect position to wedge it close and try to sink a put.

In 2 rounds this week I hit this club 21 times. All of them stayed in play and only 1 had that dreaded hook (and that was even still not too bad).

As to some comments on the sound: I’m with @Zen Snake that I don’t care what a club sounds like if it does what I want it to. I will see if I can get clear enough audio of a few different hybrids to show any differences for people soon.

Hit the shot of the day with the EXS Pro today. Hit an atrocious drive on a double cross. Hit a tree 60 yards down the fairway and went straight down. Hole has a slight bend to the left, and the tree was directly between me and the green. Decided to hit the hybrid as hard as I could to try to slice it around the tree, smashed the ball, got 230 yards of carry, with 30 yards of slice, into the green side bunker. Up and down for a routine par.

That is my personal take on it, I think it is a winner and has to be one of the few hybrids I would add to my bag. I have hooked it a few times, but there is some definite anti-hook tech built in. It smokes the ball, and is very consistent in its ability to launch a ball. I don't think anything about the look or sound will actually stop someone from buying an EXS Pro. I only bring up my personal preference to be honest in the review and help out fellow MGS members, and maybe Tour Edge. My personal preference being a bit less shine to the black finish, and some softening to the feel/sound of the face.

No question about the performance, I've been extremely impressed so far. Really nice ball flight, really stable and really consistent for me.

Obviously looks, sound and feel start getting into the subjective stuff, and I think it fits my taste better than the other testers from the sound of it. Might be comparing extremes here, but hopefully that makes more sense what I was hoping to see/not see. I snagged a picture from Callaway's site of their Mavrik Max hybrid, and put it up against one of the pictures I've got of the EXS Pro. Nothing against Callaway specifically, just grabbed one as an example. I don't like seeing a ton of mass out of the back, and I don't like seeing the kind of "bulge" towards the toe if that makes sense. I'd feel like my eye would gravitate towards all that mass and I'd be hitting everything out of the toe. This picture almost doesn't do it justice, because I almost feel like the EXS Pro is almost a half the depth the Mavrik Max appears to be. I also like that from address you don't see anything except the crown and and face. No other paint, markings, etc.

1962221249_ScreenShot2020-07-21at4_09_19PM.png.48046ad50e2642c1b8287ecdedee4de6.pngIMG_20200707_175218850.jpg.a26f2b5b5d199e7aafcae0c9c579d38d.jpg

I have enjoyed the sound, but am admittedly not picky about it. It'd need to be pretty extreme to put me off. I'm still planning on snagging a video next time I'm at the range, and I'm going to get some pictures at address.

Similar story on feel for me. I do notice when I've hit it out of the center or not, which I like for feedback on shots and potential misses. Out of the center it feels like the thing is gonna go to the moon, I have really enjoyed every swing I've managed to hit dead nuts.

If anything I do kinda understand what @zrumble is saying about the shiny crown (and love matte finishes myself) but I have yet to be distracted at all by the crown.
