Hi my name is Gary and am from the New York Metropolitan Area.

I am a high handicap golfer playing an old set of bridgestone irons.  I am in the market for new irons now but don't feel like spending a fortune.

I play at least once a week, and would love to give your irons a try.

To be honest this is the first I have heard of the Sub 70.

Love the Game

1. 4; Pittsburgh, PA

2. Srixon z-forged; 8-iron between 170-175

3. It’s a DTC company within the golf industry like Vice and Snell, but, instead, it provides access to clubs. I have used their wedges, and based on my experience the quality of their product, from a performance and durability perspective, rivals that of large, established OEMs. It’s relative market share at the moment is minute, comparatively, but their model could end up being lucrative due to the lack of brand loyalty within this industry. Regarding the average golfer, over their athletic lifetime they may own a multitude of different club sets from different companies. The majority of the time, their bags may be filled by three to four manufacturers at once. If Sub 70 can continue to bring competitive, and innovative products to the market, it may force consumers to question their reasoning behind paying the majority of supply chain costs from large OEMs for marginally better performing product at best.

3. From the reviews I gathered that Sub70 creates high quality clubs at a lower price. I am also very interested in how the hallow body technology feels and affects my ball.

1. Handicap is around a 12 right now, in Phoenix Az.

2. Current clubs are Cobra King Forged Tec (2016 Model), 8 iron is my 165 club.

3. I've heard about sub 70 originally through the No Putts Given podcast and then looking at the most wanted players/players distance irons. I've been looking at getting new irons and they were definitely going to be a consideration, but I was nervous about not being able to try them/get fit for them without an initial investment.

  1. Handicap of 12 in Oregon, WI
  2. Calaway XR with 8 iron distance of 165yds
  3. I don't know much of anything about Sub 70 other than what I've read about them on the MyGolfSpy website.  I'm thinking about replacing my current irons next year so it would be nice to test these out.  Thank you for your consideration!

I’ve honestly never heard of this company. The looks of the clubs intrigue me and I’m very curious what type of players (skill level) they are trying to market to. Good luck to everyone!
God bless!

A product with solid value never goes out of style.

Couple that with exceptional customer service, and it's an attractive package for golfers who aren't necessarily looking to take out a second mortgage to purchase some golf equipment.

That's the basic premise of Jason Hiland's company, Sub 70, that leverages a factory-direct model to keep help keep costs low.

What about performance? Well, in 2019, the Sub 70 699 iron model finished sixth in the Players Distance category of Most Wanted testing. That might not sound like much until you consider it finished ahead of Callaway, PING and Titleist. That’s an accolade worthy of some refrigerator space.

For 2020, the 699 Pro iron features a thinner topline, less offset, and a black, Tour PVD finish.

This opportunity is open to right-handed golfers residing in the United States. If interested, reply to this thread with the following information:

  1. Handicap and Location
  2. Current Irons and 8-iron distance
  3. What do you know about Sub70?

The handicap is down to a 12.2 from a 15.9 early this year. I reckon a bunch of golf will do that. I live in Oklahoma, so we get a lotta wind. I'd say my 8 iron is 145ish. If you need something more precise, go find a scratch golfer. I'm hitting Ping G410s, with 1/2 longer than regular shafts because I'm tall. I can't remember what shafts I have in them, do remember trying a bunch during the fitting.  I noted you asked for a detailed person, how about I tell you I’m up $19 (and one box of Girl Scout Cookies) year to date in friendly wagers with my golf group. I’m also the guy in charge of about 12 or so of us – make tee times, set pairings, etc. Lastly, I don’t a thing about Sub 70. I hadn’t heard of them until I saw y’all post on the gram.

I do not know much about Sub 70.  There are so many companies out there that lie under the radar.  Am currently looking at getting a new set.  It is all about the feel of the ball hitting the club.

I am a 1 handicap and I live in Murrells Inlet, SC, just to the south of Myrtle Beach.

My 8-iron distance is about 145 and my current irons are the Sub-70 639 CB with Nippon NSPRO 950 shafts. I also have the Sub-70 blade putter as well as three of their wedges so...I know quite a bit about Sub-70!

Have gone to their website and read about the company but have been scared to pull the trigger and the reviews have been great. Do they just do over the phone fittings?
