A product with solid value never goes out of style.

Couple that with exceptional customer service, and it's an attractive package for golfers who aren't necessarily looking to take out a second mortgage to purchase some golf equipment.

That's the basic premise of Jason Hiland's company, Sub 70, that leverages a factory-direct model to keep help keep costs low.

What about performance? Well, in 2019, the Sub 70 699 iron model finished sixth in the Players Distance category of Most Wanted testing. That might not sound like much until you consider it finished ahead of Callaway, PING and Titleist. That’s an accolade worthy of some refrigerator space.

For 2020, the 699 Pro iron features a thinner topline, less offset, and a black, Tour PVD finish.

This opportunity is open to right-handed golfers residing in the United States. If interested, reply to this thread with the following information:

  1. Handicap and Location
  2. Current Irons and 8-iron distance
  3. What do you know about Sub70?

1. 10.7 handicap from Joint Base MDL, NJ

2. Currently playing Calloway RAZR X, 8 iron 155-160

3. I have not heard of these clubs until I saw this list on MyGolfSpy IG page

8 iron 160-165 cobra tour forged with c tapers

They seem to be making premiere products, asthetic, and performance wise. Bought a 4 wood from em after taking to @acesoggolf and there CEO. Great process, was impressed by my interaction with the CEO, as well as how quick I received it. Been wanting to try these irons, they look sweet, and if the feel of the wood is as good as the irons looking forward to it

1. HDCP-5 Wharton, Tx

2. Mizuno MP-32 8iron- 170yds

3. Sub70 is a company trying to bring high end/price quality golf clubs direct to the consumer at a more affordable price. I’d like to test them out to see if this is possible down to the smallest details. The price of clubs has, and will, continue to grow. Eventually pricing kids out of the game. If this is something that could catch on the possibilities for supporting and growing the game are endless. Lots to take in here and review.

1. +0.7 HDCP, New York, NY

2. 8iron distance 165, current irons are Miura MC-501 with PX 6.5 Blackout Steel

3. Sub70 has been one of the newcomers floating around that has attracted a lot of buzz from my niche-blade loving friends. I think they are talked about a lot among people like me who play Miura, Grindworks, Artisan or National Custom-type players, but no one I know has pulled the trigger on a set yet. I considered their wedges this season when it was time to buy new ones again, but I fell back on Miura. Obviously the price is more attractive, but that doesn't matter to players who play really high end irons. What I think my friends and I really loved about them in our conversations is that they have a very familiar traditional design, with premium looking millings and finishes. Everything about these clubs looks sexy, but do they perform? That's the big question that I'm wondering. I like to work the ball a lot, and I'm pretty particular on how a club launches and spins. If it doesn't hit the windows I'm expecting, then they're just not right for me. After playing all my life, and a few years on the mini tours when I was younger, I just like what I like. I never fit my swing/impact to suit a club, but rather just keep buying and going through heads until I find something that checks all my boxes. If I had to rank performance characteristics in order, I would say 1) Launch/Flight/Spin 2) Distance Control on different strikes 3) Turf interaction - how it performs when I get too steep and of course 4) Looks, it just has to look like an iron I've played before at address, of which I think these do in spades.

3. Quite a bit. I have spoken with Jason numerous times and also even tested the normal 699's through their testing program. Probably would have bought them if I hadn't just purchased my 0211's.

Also have a launch monitor home simulator setup to test on

Good luck to all who entered, really interesting in the Sub 70 lineup. Actually I just ordered their hybrid to demo. Definitely not worthy of these irons, so I'll be keeping my hands out of this one. Really awesome of Sub 70 to be involved with MyGolfSpy.

  1. Handicap and Location. - I am currently a 7.6 index and live in the Houston Texas area.

  2. Current Irons and 8-iron distance. - I currently play Pxg irons and Callaway PM wedges. My 8 iron distance is 160-170
  3. What do you know about Sub70. - I know that it is a Midwest company founded in the principals of the small golf shop being higher quality clubs at a good price. The founder prides himself on the performance of his irons.

I would love the opportunity to be a tester and I have the time to play the irons and submit any feedback needed. I am a veteran & former firefighter who is currently a stay at home dad with a club membership and the ability to play 2 times per week.

1. Handicap 20, Cape Coral, FL (can play all year round)

2. Taylormade 360s (yeah definitely old) 8 iron 135 yds

3. Never heard of sub70 before I seen the story pop up on my phone as I have been in the market looking for irons. The pings intrigued me as I love the black finish, but I haven't pulled the trigger yet because I felt they were out of my price range. Very detail oriented and leave reviews constantly on google for places I visit or products I use.
