TESTERS ANNOUNCED! Sub 70 699 Pro Irons

Recommended Posts

1. 11.4 , Portland OR

2. Titleist 712CB/MB combo, the 8 is an MB. Max carry is 160, I play it as the 145-150 club.

Sub70 is a direct to consumer company, I know they made a hollow cavity injected iron that was ranked pretty highly in a MGS test. I actually have their cavity back on a short list when it’s time to upgrade. They also make forged wedges which I don’t see too many companies doing anymore, especially the more popular ones.

Definitely look forward to the reviews on this one. Been looking hard at Sub70 and NL for the next iron set.

  1. Handicap and Location. 7HDCP    Gilbert, Arizona
  2. Current Irons and 8-iron distance: Srixon 785. 8 iron is 153 yards.
  3. What do you know about Sub70? DTC company that has really been making alot of noise lately on the golf forums I follow. Lots of praise for the product and service. Been to the website many times to check them out and look at specs. They certainly make some great looking clubs. I know there is also some sort of affiliation with Hurricane Golf which I have used many times over and always been satisfied with.

1. Handicap is 6.5 and currently play at Emerald Vale in Manton, Michigan

2. Currently play Taylormade P760s but am looking to move back to blades. Generally hit 8 iron 165 give or take 5.

3. I know they are a better price point but haven’t gained the market space like Ben Hogan. They look like cheap PXG clubs but perform about the same, or so I’ve read.

2. Taylormade m2 irons , 8i 160y

3. I know they are a direct to consumer company. Which definently has pros and cons. Since seeing them on Instagram I have read great reviews on their products. Would love to test these great looking clubs.

A product with solid value never goes out of style.

Couple that with exceptional customer service, and it's an attractive package for golfers who aren't necessarily looking to take out a second mortgage to purchase some golf equipment.

That's the basic premise of Jason Hiland's company, Sub 70, that leverages a factory-direct model to keep help keep costs low.

What about performance? Well, in 2019, the Sub 70 699 iron model finished sixth in the Players Distance category of Most Wanted testing. That might not sound like much until you consider it finished ahead of Callaway, PING and Titleist. That’s an accolade worthy of some refrigerator space.

For 2020, the 699 Pro iron features a thinner topline, less offset, and a black, Tour PVD finish.

This opportunity is open to right-handed golfers residing in the United States. If interested, reply to this thread with the following information:

I’m a Scratch golfer in Tampa, FL. Played Collegiate Golf for a top 10 school and Mini-Tour Golf for 10 years. Currently play Mizuno MP69. I hit my 8 iron about 155 yards. All I know about Sub70 is that you’re a start up looking to deal directly with the consumer.  I have a few buddies who have your equipment and love them.

Titleist TSR3 9* w/ Tensei AV Raw White 65X

Hi there!

My name is Blaine from Seattle, WA.

Hcp: 8.7 (West Seattle GC)

Irons: TaylorMade p790

8 iron carry: 145 yds

I have heard a little bit about Sub70 through this forum, and understand they carry a traditional look with modern feel and distance. I always enjoy new brands that are willing to take on the heavy hitters of golf equipment and would love to test out how they stack up!

1.  12.2 handicap, Wildwood, MO (no club membership, just play locally)

2. Titleist  690cb forged blades. Old school 20+yr old but great clubs. 8 iron distance 138-145

3. Been drooling over these irons for 4-5 months. Love the DTC model and the fact that a small company can have technology and craftsmanship that competes with the big boys and their seemingly unlimited R&D budgets. Clean lines, gorgeous look and from everything I've read, super customer oriented. Every review I've read has been stellar and that pretty much backs up my opinion that Sub70 has found a sweet spot for golfers that are sick of paying $1200 plus for big brand clubs. You better get ready to expand your output. It would be a pleasure to take these around to local courses and show them off.

Sub70 849D 9.0  EvenFlow Riptide 6.0 70G Stiff

Titleist TSI2 15degree  Mitsubishi Tensei AV Series 75 gram Stiff

Callaway XR 19 degree 5 wood that is a fairway finder.

Sub70 699Pro irons 4-AW, KBS Tour 120 shafts,  1 degree upright

Sub70 JB Raw wedges in 54 and 58 degrees

Odyssey O-Works 2 ball putter/Cleveland Huntington Beach Soft center shafted- whichever one isn't in "time out" at the time.
