PXG pricing Australia 😲

Recommended Posts

I got a couple of quotes today down under. Both with Nippon 950 GH

PXG 0311 GEN3 4-GW $6600AUD about $4700usd

PXG 0211  4-GW $3800 about $2700USD

I nearly passed out when I got the numbers. That's simply unobtainable for so many and a bit rich given the 0211 has been on offer in the us for $95 USD a club. Anyone else been flabbergasted at equipment prices?

Thanks

Not flabbergasted. Sure... PGX are expensive. But that's their business isn't it? Capitalism = choices.

About $2300 aud for the P790 equivalent. I get the capitalist sentiment...but the difference in pricing even with exchange rate from USA to AUD is too much. It's so much affordable for you guys. That and the lack of offers that you get stateside..

I knew there was a big difference due to exchange rate based on looking at Lajosi putter prices.   You had only listed PXG prices and wanted to know how more mainstream brand prices compared.

Is that due to taxes or VAT?

When I was stationed in Spain in the 80's, for example, a dozen top flite's was $12 USD or so on base, at Spanish stores and golf courses, ONE SLEEVE was about $7.00 USD due to the taxes and VAT. So when we had a home and away with other courses around Madrid, they would come in and clean out the pro shop. The pro shop would stock up of course!!

General Sales Tax is 10%. I think a lot of the price increase is the labor costs but also profit margins are very high. The frustrating thing is when deals are done stateside....it would be nice to share that love. Heck even $300 AUD a club is a good price?!

Duty should also be considered plus the fee for collecting it.

For my business in Canada most of my accessory products have an additional 6.5% for products coming from offshore.  This is a fairly low percentage since I am in the construction industry while many other product segments are higher.

If PXG is not selling a large volume of product in Australia basic shipping costs can add up to a higher percentage of costs quickly.  Start factoring in extra time spent on paperwork for international shipments and costs go up again.  Person doing the paperwork must get paid.

Margins on most products are not as high as people think and based on MGS’s articles on profit for the large golf companies I would not be happy with their profit margins on goods sold.  The smaller the company the higher the profit margin must be to survive.

Golf clubs are expensive but at least there are cheaper alternatives available.  Better to have the things we want be more expensive than the things we really need.
