Finally!

I've been playing every saturday with the same 3 guys for a while. One in the group is terrible and usually shoots around 120. The other dude usually shoots in the 90s and I'm in the 80s. Then there is the one guy in our group who always shows up 1 minute before tee off and just plays amazing, every time. He usually shoots sub 85 sometimes into the 70s. I have never beat him. Come close the last 2 weeks. I shot an 87 he had an 85 and then this weekend I shot and 85 and he shot and 85. Finally I have tied him and I'm going to practice my ass off this week and kick his butt next weekend! Been a year chasing him. His swing is so nice and he rarely misses, I've finally gotten to where its close and I can feel it.

That's awesome! I know golf is about you vs the course, but it's also nice to beat the guys in your group. You'll get him!

That is fantastic, improving your personal best is awesome, beating someone else whom you have been chasing for awhile is even better.

Thats great that happen to me this year finally beat my buddy .. but i wasn't trying to beat him I was just on my game and he was really off his but thats how it goes sometimes.. I wouldn't put to much pressure on yourself to try to beat him could throw you off your game.

Consider him a blessing to your game. One of the guys in Yuma plays to a 9 handicap and we are always trying to better one another.  It's typically about a 2:1 ratio with him beating me, but the fact that we really like playing together and have an unofficial rivalry makes each of us play better.  We're not allowed to pick one another in Wolf games, but when we play an occasional Can/Am (yup, he's a Canuck), things get serious .

Nope, just a national pride thingy.  One of the newer guys in our group use to play Can/Am's years back and the losing team had to buy beer and sing the winners national anthem... or at least the portions of it they can remember.  Something like "Oh Canada.... da, da, da, da, da-da, da-da....
