mikeanthony
Couldn’t help but notice the number of players using the claw grip during coverage of the Memorial Tournament ... Finau, Mickelson, Palmer, and quite a few others. How many fellow MGSpiers are using the claw grip themselves? Was the improvement in putting immediate or did the new grip and results take some time? I’m playing early this Thursday and going to give it a run and commit to it the entire 18. I’ve been a left hand down putter for 20+ years and I’ll admit it def feels much different practicing at home. My biggest weakness is lag putting. Any suggestions/advice on how to be successful with the new claw grip? Heck, if you aren’t waggling anything at all, are you even golfing??? Seriously. Wolff knee waggle. Snedeker hip waggle. Todd club/wrist waggle. Cantlay toe waggle. Ricky/JT club take away then back waggle. And of course, the Chris DiMarco whole body waggle. mikeanthony
Took the claw putting grip out to the course this morning for the first time ... 27 total putts. Night and day difference. Now, if I simply could have prevented the +7 score across all four of the par 3s, I’d be much happier. Jim418
Nice. I switched to the claw out of necessity. On the practice green of Royal Dornach (bucket list course), my right hand was flinching at impact. Have had my best putting of my life since I changed. Reduced my pulls to the left. I found the Superstroke Pistol GT putter grip great for using the claw. They also have a "Claw" putter grip. https://superstrokeusa.com/product-category/putter-grip/ mikeanthony 1 Quote Driver: Titliest TSi3 - Tensei white stiff Wood: PING G425 LST 14.5* - Tensei orange stiff Hybrid: PING G425 19* - Tensei orange stiff Irons: PING i525 - Project X I/O 5.5 - 4-W Wedges: Taylormade MG3 52* and HiToe 56* Project X I/O 6.0 Putter: TM Spider X HYDROBLAST (33", 3* upright)
mikeanthony
Nice! Appreciate the link, Jim. Currently have a Super Stroke grip on my putter and it’s been working okay thus far ... had no idea they offered a ‘claw styled grip’. Any suggestions/advice on how to be successful with the new claw grip? I have only messed with it a couple of times on practice greens; never in play. I have been trying the left hand low grip - jury is still out on this one. I really need to do a putter fitting but won't be able to complete this until we get to AZ this next winter season. Whether a new putter and/or grip is the answer to my helter-skelter putting streaks, remains to be seen. Yesterday, I putted great over the 27 holes played. Only one 3 putt! A couple days prior, on the practice green, testing the AlignXL, my make numbers outside 10 ft. were awful. It seems to me that putting would be one of the easier parts of the game to keep in control - much more going on in full swings - yet it isn't for so many of us.
