I have a set of Ping irons. I have been playing a blue dot and 1/2 inch over length. This winter i became bored, and decided to shorten my irons by a 1/2 inch. Want to know if i gained swing weight or lost swing weight, and if i put extenders back in will i gain back what ever i changed?

decreasing the length of the golf shaft by one-half inch, the swingweight will be decreased by three swingweight points.   If you add a half inch extension you will increase swingweight.  You can also change swingweight by changing the grip (different weight)

Most Ping irons over the years are around D0 swingweight.  As @cnosil said, the 3 swingweight points lost puts them about C7 depending on which Pings you have.  If you find lighter grips, the SW will increase.
