Martini Tees - Driver Face Contact?

Recommended Posts

The course where we play has firm tee boxes when it is dry resulting in breaking your tees on almost every drive.   A couple of years ago one of my regular foursome started playing with the Martini tees and we all teased him about it.  Fast forward now and we are all playing them.  They are very hard to break.  The shorter ones tend to fly out of the ground and are much easier to lose. The longer ones are also easier to get a hold of for some of the older guys.   The stepped ones break more easily then the non stepped, but provide for more consistent tee height.  When it is really firm ground, they can be tough to insert because they are thicker and a bit flexible.

Generally the way we use them is to insert the tee and then angle it slightly rearward.  The large cup supports the ball and the tea shaft is out of the way of the driver face.

You never have seen a group of guys look for a tee after hitting their drive like us though! 😉

You don’t have to carry many tees once you start using them.  They last a long time and don’t take up much space in the golf bag or pant’s pocket.

I’ve been giving some out to members of our Men’s group to try and now lots of guys have switched over.

A couple of their competitors have introduced their own version recently, haven’t tried any of the copies yet.

If you could compress a ball far enough to hit the tee then all that is going to happen is the tee would move. Secondly, I have know idea how a tee could change the flight path of the ball.

My wife uses rubber top tees which are double the size of a wooden tee. She loves them as the rubber piece is the perfect height for her driver. The cool thing about them is that when the plastic tee breaks you can simply replace them with wooden ones.

I find the martini tees and use them regularly with a slight tilt for my driver. I am routinely getting greater than 50% Fairways. Sometimes 75%. Martinis are great.

In our Wednesday group I’m the only guy out of 8 that doesn’t use the martini tees. The funny part is if I can’t find my tee after a Tee shot no big deal if they can’t find a Martini Tee it’s a meltdown from a couple these guys, it’s comical.
The Tees I’ve been using are from my eye Doc who has really high quality semi-flexible ones. Have an eye exam next month time to stock up

I love by these tees. Wooden and they last as long as plastic without bending. They’re ridiculously strong and I’ll go probabky 2 rounds with 1 as long as I don’t lose it.

the lines help me place it down the same every time.

Easy, Seniors who after every shot is “where’d it go, did you se it”? “I never saw it”. That’s how. We have one guy about 78 or so hasn’t seen a Tee shot in years.

You don't need to see where you are going at all.

About that, many years ago I went to get my license transferred to Florida and at the time I forgot my glasses, I am blind without them, they never tested my vision, although I was squinting to fill up the application.

I’m shocked! One of the “Martini Tee Army” was using Tees like mine this morning. Must have gone to my Eye Doctor.

I use the Martini tees as It's easy to keep the ball from falling off.  Heck a couple years back I still had the shakes from my years being a professional sud sucker.

A lot of guys (& women) use the Martini Tees.
When I first saw them I thought it was a “cutesy” fad. I was very wrong, Martini Tees are everywhere! I’m not into them......yet
