DIY Method to test lie angle?

Recommended Posts

Anyone have a good method at see how your lie angle is working for you say at the range ect. I'm just curious as to if mine is slanted one way or the other to see if I need to bring them to a fitter to actually get tested and possibly adjusted.

Take a marker and draw a line on a golf ball and align it vertically on the ground. Hit the ball and see what way the line leans on the face of your iron. If it's still vertical then lie is good. If it leans left or right then you may need a slight adjustment.

My bag is a revolving door!

You can also take a piece of electrical tape and put it on the sole of the club. Take a few swings on a board, upside down piece of carpet or welcome mat. You will see right away. I did this today preparing for my phone fitting for Sub 70 players irons

I went to https://www.golfsub70.com/ did the online fitting, looked at my divots and they coincided. I took it one step further and got a lesson, then asked the pro if he had any clubs with a +2 lie, hit it a few times and had a perfectly even divot. I hope this helps if you are still trying to figure something out.
