Used Putters?

1.  What is a good source for purchasing a used putter?
2.  Conversely, what is a good source for selling a used putter?

 Thanks

I believe they bought rights to all TaylorMade preowned clubs last year when TaylorMade closed their pre-owned site.

Careful with eBay...lots of counterfeits out there. The major golf forums have some good items for sale. I will say, after buying used clubs through the major websites (Global, 2nd Swing, Callaway Pre-Owned, etc), Callaway Pre-Owned is by far the best bang for your buck if you're in the mood for Callaway/Odyssey. I've found some fantastic deals on that site. I think 2nd Swings pricing is a bit over the top. For example, a new Mizuno T-20 wedge on most sites is $149. 2nd Swing has them used for $170+. A real head scratcher.

Depends on brand. If a Scotty, I'm skeptical of buying off Ebay. If buying something super niche, let's say a LAB Golf putter, then I wouldn't worry about fakes and would buy on ebay.

Maybe I'm nuts, but I'd rather buy irons or drivers used, sight unseen than putters. The feel of those is just so personal to me. I like local stores where I can try them out before buying.

Remember that CPO also has Toulon putters and trade ins. Picked up a Toulon Long Island for about $20 after sending in a couple of clubs.

With counterfeit being such a big problem, I wonder how hard it is for companies to have a "verification" system. One where a serial number can be entered, and it tells you whether it's fake or not.

Keep in mind, I am not sure what the cost of something like that would be for each company, and the benefits to them would be limited as it's really going to be used mostly be those looking to purchase second hand, which doesn't contribute to the company's bottom line. However, they may gain new customers that were loyal to other brands, but that's probably going to be limited.

Did I just answer part of my own question?

I’ve both bought and sold on eBay.  The big used club stores, like global golf, have eBay seller pages and you can often find clubs cheaper there than on the store site itself.  I’ve done that to get good deals yet still have confidence that the seller will back up the purchase.  As with anything used, buyer beware.  If it’s too good to be true, don’t do it.
