Middler Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 There's a guy in our league who plays right handed, but chips and putts left handed. I didn't even notice until the fourth hole when he was getting ready to chip left handed, and I thought WTH? Must be fun buying iron sets...though much easier these days with all the "specialty" wedges. I mean, I can see it. If they're only doing putting-stroke chips, doing it lefty and having that mental disconnect between your righty full swing mechanics and your lefty short, sweet and simple mechanics could be really helpful. How does the guy do in your league? Quote Rag tag bag, but it does the job. Taylormade R1 driver. Ping G400 3 wood. Cleveland Halo Launcher 3 hybrid. Cleveland CBX launcher irons (5-PW). Assorted wedges (48, 52, 58). Odyssey White Hot Pro 2.0 putter.

Rick2.2 Posted August 22, 2023 Posted August 22, 2023 Do you putt tight hand down as leftie? Much like a righty would putt left hand down? I am natural lefty who has played righty for 58 years. With a double vision challenge, putting lefty is perfect. If I look right I have double vision. Left hand down putting lefty is uncomfortable but is ok with right hand down? Anyone else like this? IanCC Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I’m right handed and play right handed but appear to putt with a much smoother stroke putting left handed with a right handed (right hand down) grip especially on shorter putts. More straight back and through rather than whatever loopy nonsense my usual backstroke is especially with lighter putters (the heavier the putter the better this is but left handed the putter weight isn’t an issue somehow). PhilM75072 Posted April 22 Posted April 22 I don't, but an 80-year-old who plays with us twice per week plays right-handed and putts lefty. He uses an old Bullseye putter and putts pretty darn well! Rick Elson Posted May 25 Posted May 25 I am naturally right-handed in almost everything, writing, throwing, swinging a baseball bat and swinging a golf club. I am also right eye dominant. However, like most Canadian kids, I grew up playing hockey left-handed. I putt that way, as well. For me, putting is like holding a hockey stick. I believe the Canadian pro, Jim Nelford, once said golfers should swing the way they swing a baseball bat and putt the way they play hockey. It works for me. Quote
