Specs
I'm planning on buying a 910 in the near future. I fit out at a 8.5 but would like the option to change lofts depending on conditions. Looking at the chart on Titleist website you can go down in loft .75 and up in loft up to 1.5 degrees. That sounds perfect for me but curious on the setup. If I go up .75 or 1.5 will the face start to look open or worse yet closed? Basically trying to determine if I should go with a 8.5 that will be square but can also go up .75 or 1.50 and still have it square. Thoughts or experiences with this? Thanks in advance Wheels KWheels
RookieBlue7
Less loft=More Open More Loft=More Closed Same with bending a driver open or closed, you're raising and lowering loft in the same manner. finalist
The face angle does change, but that depends more on how you hold the club and address the ball. What looks closed to me might be square to others. Titleist put out a video explaining why they don't include the face angle numbers on their chart. Basically people see things differently and hold things differently. Personally mine is a 8.5 set at D2. This gives me 7.75° with a slightly more upright lie angle and slightly open, but I can close that face down at address for a anti right swing if needed. It's a great driver.. just watch out for the ferrule rising up the shaft during hot weather. I use a vice to push it down about once a week since it's kept in my car trunk during work. I spy with my little eye something...
RookieBlue7
Titleist subsequently removed the face angle changes from the right side before shipping the matrix diagram out because people see things differently and some were saying this or that wasn't open or closed, etc. The original readings were as follows, from the top right, going down the right side of the chart vertically: 1.5 closed (Right of B-4) 0.5 closed (Right of C-4) 0.5 open (Right of B-1) 1.5 open (Right of C-1) It corresponds to each horizontal line, so for the top line, A-3, B-3, A-4, and B-4 are all 1.5 closed. Those are in degrees, of course. Specs
Thanks guys. I checked it on in a store and agree. the minus .75 looked pretty square to me though the chart showed .5 closed. With more loft they looked good as well. Trying ot find a 8.5 with the right shaft. This must be a great club because finding a used one is just about impossible. Thanks Wheels KWheels
