DiscipleofPenick
They brought it to Cleveland for the first time last year. Apparently the same guys have been running the Columbus OH chapter for years. Though my experience wasn't great, I played 2 tourneys and quit the tour. I was in the champion flight (The first tourney, I didn't play well on a course I've never seen before but I won a pin shot, nbd. Some Div 1 college golfer won my flight. The second tourney was a complete cluster. None of their gear was working, people were in the wrong flights, and there was a huge delay in getting everyone registered. Again playing in Champ flight, there were only 4 of us. I finished four shots back of the presumed winner, I think he shot an 81. Then 3 groups later a guy walks in says he was part of our flight, and said he shot 80 to win by 1. He handed his card to the director and he was declared the winner. None of us knew he was there, no one could verify his score, and who knows if he played the same set of tees even if he shot the 80. It stormed the night before so we were playing a wet & cold 6900 yard course. The blues the A flight played were 6500 and the B flight at 6300, so big differences. If that's how the tourneys are going to function I decided I didn't want to be a part of it. Additionally, the flights, D to Champ, were supposed to be split by handicap. But they did not require GHIN number or anything else at registration. So you could enter any flight you wanted to. Both tournaments the low man was a B flight player (9-13 hcp) shooting even par. I don't believe you. I suppose there could be some good in the higher flights as there's 0% chance a 16 hcp is gonna be in the money in a scratch tournament around here. So for public golfers this may be the only game in town for competitive golf above a single digit handicap. But even then be cautious unless you can verify handicaps, or the directors are enforcing it.TL;DR it sucks for the better golfers, but in the right situation could be lots of fun for higher handicaps.Take Dead Aim xOldBenKenobiX 1 Quote Take Dead Aim Driver: PXG 0211 10.5* Fairway: Titleist 917 F3 15* Hybrid: Adams Idea Pro Boxer Gold 18* Irons: MacGregor MT-86 Pro Wedges: Vokey 50/54/58 Putter: SeeMore X2 Costa del Mar Ball: Srixon Z-Star Link to comment

Take Dead Aim Thank you, I just learned that hey have a Eastern Michigan chapter and was curious of how they are ran, I still want to give it a shot next year. I wanted to join the Golf Channel AM tour, but that is scrapped, so I was looking for something close, just to play more golf. Some of those were over $200 per tourney for public courses. I don't know your handicap, but be aware of the issues if you're single digit. Of course, temper the expectations.I mean the golf channel tour was more expensive. GaDawg
I played to Golf Channel Am Tour for several years around 2007 -2012. It was a great experience and had the opportunity to play in a lot of regional and national tournaments. It was fairly expensive, especially if you were traveling to tournaments. I will have to say that they ran a tight ship. No sand bagging or crazy crap going on. xOldBenKenobiX 1 Quote Driver: TSI3 - 10*, Hzrdus Smoke 6.0 Stiff Driver: Stealth Plus - 10.5*, Oban Kiyoshi Purple O4Flex-65 Grams Purred 3 Wood: SIM - 15*, Graphite Design Tour AD DJ5 Stiff Hybrid: TS3 - 19*, Hzrdus Smoke 6.0 Stiff Irons: 5 - PW T150, with Nippon Zelos 7 Reg, 4 iron - U505 with Project X HZRDUS Black Stiff Wedges: Vokey SM 8 - 50*, 60* Standard Wedge Shafts Wedge: Milled Grind 3 MG3 56* S200 shaft Putter: Studio Select Newport 1.5 Putter: Phantom X 5.5 Ball: Pro V1x Link to comment

Par 72, 7028 yards, slope of 75, rating of 141. So if that guy shot only 11 over, it smells like sandbaging to me. But I don't know. JDHolmes
USAmtour picked up from the Golf Channel Am tour. I played GC the last five years. Played one USAm tour tournament a few weeks ago. Same people but things are not quite the same. Golf week am tour seems popular around here (houston) ans many i played with on GC have moved to golf week. As a senior, i want to play against other seniors not against 25 year olds.Sent from my SM-G950U using MyGolfSpy mobile app xOldBenKenobiX 1 Quote Link to comment

GaDawg
I just looked up the US Am Tour and it appears to be very similar to the previous Golf Chanel Am Tour. I saw a lot of the same players from the past.
