Kenny B
Can I do it... yes. Can I do it the way I want, when I want... no. But that's more me than the club. My basic shot shape with irons is straight, and I rarely need to or want to shape a shot, so I never practice it. Thin2win
2 hours ago, LeftyHawk said: Simple question. Can you shape a shot with a game improvement iron? Chris Most definitely. GI irons help to mitigate poor ball flight on non-center strikes, but they can't stop a ball from turning left or right. cnosil
Simple question. Can you shape a shot with a game improvement iron? ChrisSimple answer: yes. Longer answer: do all your shots go straight? People slice game improvement clubs all the time. Balls flight is controlled by the relationship of path and face angle. The ball flight laws don’t change based on the type of club you are using. Prior to the G410's I was using the i10's and had some success at drawing and fading the ball when needed. I tried using the same methods for drawing and fading with the 410's with no success. This is why the question. Chris Quote Far and Sure...... If you can hit one shape all the time, every time, you can be a really fine player. If the only shot you can hit with your new clubs is really close to straight, that's a pretty good "shape" to be stuck with. cnosil, THEZIPR23 and Larryd3 3 Quote Irons Titleist T200, AMT Red stiff Rogue SubZero, GD YS-Six X T22 54 and 58 wedges 7-wood 5-wood B60 G5i putter Right handed Reston, Virginia
heavygolffeels
I struggle to shape shot with GI clubs. I can play a GI long iron, but when you want to attack pins, it is brutal. Very difficult to control side spin. The other one that is a nightmare is the low draw around the corner. Maybe under some trees, when you get in the left rough off the tee on a dogleg left. As a fader, that is already an exaggerated shot for me. Have to start it way right, keep it low and snap it. With the GI it doesnt stay line, and often stays straight putting me back in the trees on the right side now. no thanks.
