StrokerAce
We love golf ... no, we REALLY love golf. That being said, how far have you traveled ROUND TRIP for a single round of golf - NOT for a "golf trip", just a single round of golf? I'll give you an example: @Golfspy_CG2 was telling me that he once made a round-trip to Pinehurst in a day for one round of golf. 6 hours each way. Left home at 5:00 am made a 12:00 pm shotgun start. Left at 6:30 pm to drive back got home at 1:00 am. Had to be at an 8:00 am regional meeting with our president. I have another friend who did something similar from RI to NY for Bethpage black. So spies - how far have you gone for a single round? 3 Quote I got something to say then I'm gonna say it.

Kenny B
Riding in a car a long way and then playing golf are not compatible for this old body. I will travel to courses within an hour's drive; Yakima, Moses Lake, Walla Walla, Pendleton, to play, but anything longer is an overnight trip. I have driven 2.5 hours to Spokane and played when I got there, but I will stay the night and play again the next day before heading home. BTW, the round after driving 2.5 hours is crap. 4 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

Jmikecpa
Left Thursday night on a flight from JFK to San Francisco. Drove Friday morning from San Fran to Pebble Beach. Played golf on Saturday and flew home Saturday night out of San Fran. And not to play but the first time I went to the Masters I flew from Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia back to the states and best routing was through LA to Vegas. Spent a few hours in LV and then hopped a red eye to Atlanta to get in before the round started for the day. Monday after the tournament I was on a 7 am flight from ATL to LAX for a meeting then back on a flight to Asia. Second trip to the Masters we flew JFK to Cleveland to have our flights to Atlanta get cancelled. We rented a car and drove straight through the night to Augusta which was around 13.5 hours. Got a few hours of sleep and were on the grounds by 11am. russtopherb
About 2 hours, but I also stayed overnight. On a single day trip, about 75 minutes. I’m not spending more time in the car than I am on the course. I’m not good enough to spend the time and money to bother. There’s 6-7 courses all within 20 mins of my house. That’s good enough for me. Tom the Golf Nut
I have some winners on my list. Drove from TN to Bethpage got out of the car played 18 on the Black course and headed back the next morning. 12 hours driving 5 hours playing. 8 hours of sleep 12 hours driving. I assume flying counts too. Biggest out and back was from TN to Vegas played a round in a charity tournment and came back the next day. I think I played Desert Pines. TN to Colorado for an out and back one day tournment. I won that one! Played The Ridge. TN to Kansas City out and back twice. Two charity events. Played Falcon Lakes and Dubbs Dred. I was supposed to do that again this October but who knows with this Covid thing! 2 Quote Driver, TSi1 10* Stiff Flex 3 Wood, SLDR HL 17* R Flex 5 Wood, SLDR 19* R Flex 7 Wood, F6 22.5* R Flex 939x 5 hybrid Irons, 699 Pro's S Flex (6 - AW) JB Wedge 56* Wedge, CBX 60* Putter, Marksman Fang 35"
ballplayer002003
We had a 3:00 tee time to play Bethpage Black, if you have ever tried to get a tee time you know all the hoops you have to go through to play there (especially if you are out of state). Left Delaware at 6 am. Met a few buddies that were playing with me who were from Baltimore. Arrived at Bethpage about 11:30 only to find a sign on the door that said they were closed for the day due to rain that had passed through over two hours prior. A phone call from them would have been nice. From there we went over to Trump National Ferry Point (beautiful course) but that was another hour away. Played it and drove home. That was a LONG day! More time in the car than on the course. 7 Quote Driver: Epic Flash Sub Zero Hzdrs Smoke x flex 70g 3 Wood: 917 w/ Diamana Whiteboard stiff 5 Wood : Epic Flash 18* Hzdrs Smoke stiff 4 Hybrid: TSi3 Hzdrs Smoke X flex Irons: 5-7 Apex forged 19 w/ Modus 120 X 9-A Apex Pro 19 w/ Modus 120 X Wedges: MD5 52&56 Jaws Dynamic Gold wedge flex Putter: Scotty Cameron Phantom 5.5 34"
MaxEntropy
I got a call from a friend one day that he was meeting up with another friend in southern Illinois, so I jumped in my car, drove ~540 miles. Played 18 holes the next day. When we finished, we drove ~105 miles to my friend's place for the night, then I woke up and drove 500 miles home. golfingbrock
Last year I had 3 pretty good travels for 1 round of golf. I left Ft Worth at 3:30 a.m. and then teed it up in Austin at Barton Creek at 9 a.m., back the same night. (I don't recommend this, as I was stiff and tired most of the round). Another day I left after work, stayed the night in Houston, then played Memorial Park right after it opened, then back the next day. Both of those were around 4 hours each way. My longest trip was 27 holes at Sweetens Cove disguised as a family vacation. We took a road trip from Ft Worth to Virginia, also stopping in Tennessee and North Carolina, totalling about 50 hours in the car for the week. Some trips are family trips where you just happen to golf, but for this one, my main objective was getting to Sweetens, then building a fun family trip around it. 3 Quote Driver: Honma TR20 440 8.5° w/ Vizard FP-7X SHAFT - REVIEW POSTED 3 Wood: Adams TightLies Titanium 3+ - Shaft Bassara E55 x5ct Hybrid: Taylormade RBZ 2. 16.5°- Stock Shaft- Stiff Irons: SUB70 639 CB 4-PW w/ Nippon Modus 120 X-STIFF Wedges: GW: SUB70 Raw 48° Mizuno Mp series 52 SW: Cleveland RTX 2.0 56° LW: Mizuno JPX 900 60° Putter: Odyssey White Ice Sabertooth- Superstroke Slim 3.0 grip Bag: Taylormade FlexTech Lifestyle Carry bag- Houndstooth

Siamese Moose
12 hours from Cincinnati to Atlantic City to play in "The Greg". If you are an expat of GEA, you know the tournament is in memory of Greg Milanowitz (sp?), who was murdered on 9/11. This year the tournament is on 10/24, and I'll drive only 10 hours each way. Fortunately, it's incredibly convenient that my mother in law lives close, so I get to visit and have a free room. My wife has yet to decide if she wants to spend 20 hours in the car to spend 24 hours with her mother. For me it's a no brainer. I'm driving 10 hours each way for one round of golf.
