Basic yardages on carries of water or bunkers off tees are a very small one time cost for golf courses.  Having a solid layout on your website shouldn't be hard, but a lot of courses are really bad at it.  If its your first time seeing a course it makes it much more difficult to navigate. 

I don't need a HD drone flyover and commentary.  Just screenshot Google maps and walk the course with a rangefinder and throw it on the site.  Its not going to ever need updating. 

@Tsmithjr9 I do the same thing, especially before something competitive or official.  I did it for Portage Country Cub before the NOGA even I played in last Monday because their website doesn't have much.  Obviously its private and doesn't get much play from people who don't know the course, but still. 

Or charge me for the yardage book. I think it is under $5 for the yardage book at Scarlet and Gray in Columbus, but its so worthwhile.

I'm in the process of making hole by hole notes for you guys. Since we are a private club and don't get much outside play other then qualifiers* and collegiate tournaments you won't see much information online.

* US Open Regional Qualifier has been held here every year since 2015. Obviously the 2020 Qualifier was canceled. Our course has also been on schedule for the Women's intercollegiate events.

In the mean time practice your bunker shots

Oh yea, if this was a hole that I had a few drives under my belt and I was feeling it, I'd have a go.

Only about 3 weeks away! Good news - fairways and greens are in great shape, the rough isn't as tall since we've hardly had any rain in the past 2 months. The pond on #1 is down about 4' since they use that water for watering the fairways, so those of you going for the green will be able to hit your ball out of the mud .  As we get closer I'll be sending out additional details on local rules, course notes etc. Stay tuned. 

In the meantime - the approach to the green on #5, a dogleg par 5.

Dress code is pretty basic - no jean or sleeveless t shirts (we'll have to discuss @Mattf's hat ). What you guys wore at Pine Hills is just fine. I have negotiated a lower rate and will send that info via pm.

Like many of you, I also preview the course to determine some form of strategery, but Arccos seems to be pretty bad at knowing which tee box is appropriate for the selected tees. If I select the white tees in Arccos, it still thinks we would be teeing off from the back tee box like the image @RollingGreens posted above. In reality, it seems there is a good chance the whites will be on the next box forward, potentially shaving up to around 20 yards off the shot.

Since inquiring minds want to know..... you can play blues, whites, bronze or the ladies tees or any combination . Note scorecard below shows combo holes and yardages. If you're playing combo tees and using GHIN be sure to select that option vs. CIC regular tees.

Guys, for those attending:

We no longer use different flag colors to denote pin location and instead use an app. The app - both for iphone and others is called ezlocator ePinsheet (free), I've included a couple of screen shots below: the first is from the apple store, the second is of the green/pin location you'll see, Note, the way to read this is: the green depth is 30 paces long (upper right number), the red lower left number is 3 paces from center, the the lower right number is 12 paces in from the front and 8 paces from the right. Hope all of that makes sense, if not I can give a quick overview when we meet. Also as an FYI, most of our newer carts have a usb port in case you have a battery issue

Here's a pic of the green on #9, a 160 yd par 3. Careful not to overshoot the green which will result in one of 2 things : a chip onto a sharp downhill green or worse yet the rock ledge will eat your ball. I sank a 6' downhill putt (white ball in the middle of the pic) for a bird today. Too bad the golf gods weren't as kind to me on the previous 8 holes.

Updated forecast for the 12th. Couldn't ask for better temps. Our course is cart path only today, but 3 days of upcoming sunshine + wind should return it to normal conditions on Saturday. Hope the winds clock around to the northwest it'll make the course that much more challenging.

The weather gods were kind for our outing. Weather leading up to our event was cold, windy and lots of rain, but it was the best golf weather ever for our event. Note: the rain came back Sunday morning and it's cart path only! I won't mention scores, especially mine, since my driver went missing on #7 and didn't reappear til #18. For those that did play well, especially from the blue tees, the US Open regionals  will be back here next May! Guys, thx for making the trip out here. And a special thx to my wife who was taking pix from our condo.
