Low flighted shots

Recommended Posts

Is it possible to hit a stinger with a low lofted hybrid?  The specific club I am wanting to try this with is a GAPR Mid 3.  It's a shot idea I'd like to try and will actually try to do this Friday morning at a driving range unless I get a consensus of it being impossible.

Yes,  not really any  different than hitting a low shot with a wood or iron.

I was absolutely hoping you had some input on this.  Thank you for that.

Definitely possible, you'll just have to work a little harder to get it to launch as low as a GAPR Lo, P790 UDI, SIM UDI, etc. That's because of the CG placement, but it's definitely something you can do. You'll just have to deloft a little more going through impact to get a really low launch.

Buzza Golf on youtube actually just posted a video about this a month ago, talking about how to hit hybrid stingers and the differences versus a traditional driving iron. Video is called how to hit your hybrid low.  As others mention the flight might not look exactly like a tiger stinger, but its all relative to what the normal flight of the club is.

You can also crank down the loft on the adjustable hosel to make it like a 2 and even easier to hit low and fast.

Well, I did manage to hit a few lower flighted shots and one shot that left me laughing pretty heartily.  It was very much a worm burner that had a whole heck of a lot of roll out at the end.  It nearly hit the 150 sign as it went by on the ground.  Outside of that, I am now entirely confused by my iron striking.  My buddy has a set of 708 AP2s and I hit them as well as my game improvement irons.  I'm not a shot shaper yet, but that soft feeling and being able to feel impact feedback was addicting.
