Mother of all that is holy, Just recovered from kidney stones, went into emerg with stabbing pain, got a urine test and had blood in my urine. They did a CT scan and found a kidney stone. Gave me a week to try and pass it and then had surgery. Boy all I can say is I hope you never get kidney stones it's gotta be one of the most painful things I have ever experienced. Had to take 3 weeks off golf and it sucked mentally to be off the course. I'm back at it this weekend. Hope you guys are doing well, I haven't been on the forum for a few weeks.

I missed you as you've already made a nice impact.  I'm glad to hear you're doing better.  Thankful I've never had them but I've certainly known lots of people who have.  NG!

While not at the same time I was fit for every club in my bag as well as the Pro VI ball. I use the chrome soft x ls on my league course.  It has much softer softer greens than the club that I belong to.

I’m on a mission to shoot my age - lifetime lowest round is 66 and I’m currently 67.

Kidney stones are no fun. I had my first bout with them at 18 and I've passed them every 3-4 years since then. I have some gravel right now in my right kidney, thankfully I haven't been hospitalized since I had lithotripsy 5 years ago to break up some big ones.

Did they tell you what kind of stones they were? There are various ways you can alter your diet to help prevent the reoccurrence of them. For me, it's staying away from food that has high oxalate content. I drink probably a gallon of water per day, and have lemonade with dinner every night which helps as well. Be sure to follow up with a urologist if they recommended you do so.

I've had them that seriously only once, it had to be "retrived" and when they got it it was larger than a #2 pencil eraser with barbs.  The first time it moved I took 3 hydrocodones and they did not help, I went to the emergency room and they gave me a shot of demerol and it did not touch it either.  After another 30 minutes they gave me a shot of morphine and that got the pain.   It was nothing like I had ever felt, before or since.   I'm glad you are ok and I hope you never have them again.

I've take care of a many who had them. The SOB had to be pretty big if they did a form of surgery most time they make you pass it on your own.

I remember the first time I had them, I was in the ER in agony and a nurse said to me "I've had 3 kids and stones once, and I'd have 3 more kids if it meant never having stones again".

I was like, YOU'RE NOT HELPING HERE.

Same.  I had them about 20 years ago, and I was fortunate to pass them but veeeerrrrrry painful.  I was supposed to get on a flight to Russia to teach a class for Russian nuclear inspectors the next morning for 2 weeks, but I didn't make the trip.  I felt bad that the other instructors had to give my presentations, but there was no way I wanted to get on a plane!!

Glad your are over them, and back on the forum @StrawberryShortCake.

I'm glad you are doing better. Kidney stones are not a joke.

I'm fortunate to never had them, but I've friends who have, and I could see the misery on their eyes from the pain.

Hope you play well this weekend.

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better, kidney stones and the poison that goes with them is no joke. I had one about 4 years ago that brought me to my knees. Spent a good deal of time wallowing in pain as it felt like they had me in a vice. Hate to be graphic, but I vomited until I was dry heaving. Fortunately I passed out quick and the pain meds they gave me helped.

I hope you can get out and enjoy some golf this weekend. It's good to hear from you again!

The worse pain aside from the back pain, was gout, the attacks are horrific. I hope to never get it again, and I do hope that I never experience any kidney issues.

Kidney stones and gout... arrrgh!  Very painful.  I only had the one kidney stone, but I've had gout several times.  My doctor put me on Allopurinol and I haven't had either in 20 years.

Oh boy, I feel your pain. I had several, two of which required Intervention. One was broken up with a laser and the other was with the shock wave . I have two more and when they move they will have to be taken out or broken up.

Worst pain ever...... Passed out on one of them.

Yup, sounds familiar. The shot of morphine on way to emergency room had only a small effect on the pain. Don’t ever want a repeat of that.

Allopurinol and Meloxican are my magic combo, I only started having Gout issues about 10 years ago, and I have not have any issues with it for the past 5 years.

I remember the first time, where my feet swell up to the size of watermelons and the intolerable pain, like 1000 nails hitting the nerves and bones at the same time, not to mention that my feet were all purple and tender to the touch, I used to have shoes that were 3 sizes too big, to wear to work, when I had gout attacks.

I am glad that I have not have to deal with it for awhile.

Thank you, I hope so too, I never want to have those kind of issues again, life without pain is much better and happy.

Feet are good, back is great, so life is really good.

I scratched my back on the car door the other day as my wife was getting out on the other side, it scared the hell out of her, she thought I had injured my back again.

OUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the back pain about 5 times in 4 years, not knowing what it was and took ibuprofen and it helped. One morning the pain was so bad I went into ER, I was leaning on gurney on the hall (cold and flu season, hospital ER full of Flu  cases) when I told wife I was going to pass out, saw wife walk quickly to nurse, point at me,and less than 5 minutes later I was introduced to Mr. Morphine, couple of hours later no pain. Then several months later on my way to get results from annual physical, pain hit, they took a urine sample which looked (sorry about description) like chocolate milk, doctor said kidney stones, gave me flow-max, a strainer , a shot of Demerol and sent me home.

Five days later I was urinating I felt a pain down the track followed by sheer relief,,, looked at strainer and there it was!!!!! 3 Millimeter rock,,,, took it to Doctor and was told it was a calcium oxalate.

One description I heard for Kidney Stones,

Pretty well covers it.
