Shapotomous
A couple months ago when cooped up due to the virus closures I was trolling for clubs on the 'net and came across a set of the first 'real' clubs I had.... (prior clubs were from the Hermans sports store I bought 1 iron at a time as I got lawn mowing money). It was the weight port that sucked me in way back in the 70's and I still like the look! I decided they needed to be on display and ready to take to the course sometime rather than hide in a closet so I made a wall rack for them... The wedge has been out in the yard for 60yd shots but the set hasn't made it to the course yet. Hopefully I will get a chance for more than 9 holes a week this fall and they will get some playing time. Tom the Golf Nut
WOW... Herman's sporting goods store brings back memories. I forgot all about that chain until now. I'm originally from NY and that was a big chain there many years ago. Good luck playing with the vintage irons. That's what I want to do as well. right now I have my clubs and cart in the corner with a couple vintage golf signs and a ball holder, with balls I have collected. I want to hang some vintage clubs in the corner. xOldBenKenobiX
Eventually when I can "waste" 10 grand on it, I want to install a simulator and line the walls outside of it with old bags and clubs as well as golf memorabilia, posters and such. Shapotomous
Here are some pics with dimensions if you want them. I used recycled old thick oak stair treads i saved from another project. For the 8 clubs, I cut the 29" x 2.5" size I wanted from the tread, marked the spacing & used a hole saw in a drill pres and then cut the throats with the table saw on an angle, then I ripped that piece in half to get both sides. That was the easiest way for me to get the slots lined up exactly.
