Second round of the FedEx Cup Playoffs this weekend. Olympia Fields Country Club in Illinois is hosting the event for the first time.

 

Justin Thomas is the defending champion, winning last year's tournament which was played at Medinah Country Club.

 

Tiger Woods and Dustin Johnson have both won this event twice in the past. After obliterating the field last week, it'll be interesting to see if DJ can keep it going this week. Tiger, on the other hand, will likely need a Top 5 finish to have a realistic chance of making it to the Tour Championship.

 

Olympia Fields has hosted some big time tournaments in the past, most recently the 2017 Women's PGA Championship and the 2015 U.S. Amateur, which was won by Bryson DeChambeau. Before that, it has hosted two PGA Championships, in 1925 and 1961, and two U.S. Opens, in 1928 and 2003. It also hosted the 1997 U.S. Senior Open.

 

Hopefully, it'll be another great week of golf.

Its always odd from back to back wins so I would expect DJ to come back to earth this week, but still should be a fun week for sure.

Well, I did it again.  Thought Morikawa and J Day would be up there.  +6 for both!!  But it's still early.  At least I was right about Cantley making a move this week.  But again, it's early.

If the course conditions don't get any easier this could play like a 4th major. Not surprising since the course has hosted majors before.

Did the USGA change the venue for the US Open and didn't tell anyone?  Wadda U mean an old course can't challenge the best players in the world anymore?

Wow, 2 players under player. Only 4 at even or better. Leaders only 1 under. This is a US Openesque tournament and they didn't even trick it up like the USGA always does, at least from the bits and pieces I've seen.

All the players looked “whipped” after these 3 long days.
I missed most of the TV coverage but saw last hour. Going to be interesting tomorrow. I think DJ might pull it out.

DJ looked a little frustrated with the putts, but so did everyone.  If he can figure it out, I like his chances.

However, I think someone in the +1 or +2 groups could post a number that holds up.  Like Rory or Adam Scott.  I don't think anyone further back has a chance.

I don't envy the pros at all, but I like watching tournaments when the course is playing really difficult. I'm not sure about who's coming out on top this week, but it feels like DJ's definitely gonna be the guy to beat for the FedEx!

I'm thinking Mackenzie Hughes may have a shot at it. Has arguably had one of the best weeks so far and had 4 straight bad holes which he made 4 straight bogeys. He's been playing well and seems to have a at least two hands on the wheel at this course.
