Badams69
I have had some recent positive results with essentially flipping clubs/gear on facebook mrktplc. So kinda thinking of hunting clubs full time and flipping them. So far not much luck at thrift stores (two days in) so I was hoping one or more of you would be able to share some insights on the viability of such an endeavor. And where/how you've successfully found clubs. dlow206
I have never done it for the purposes of making money. However, I have bought things at cheap prices and then traded them in at a higher value when I was buying new clubs. 2 Quote Follow my golf journey to break into the 80s Tester for the Titleist TSi Driver Spring 2020 MGS Tester for the Fujikura Motore X Shaft Updated 07/15/2022 Driver: Rogue St Max LS - Autoflex Fairway Woods: Rogue Max St 3HL and 7 Wood Irons: JPX 921 Hot Metal 5 to AW - Aerotech Steelfiber i95 Stiff parallel tip Wedges: Glide 4.0 54 and 58 Putter: PLD Custom Kushin 4 Link to comment
LeftyHawk
Might make for a nice hobby, but I honestly don't see being able to make any amount of money doing it. But I could be wrong. For the best success I'd have to think you would need to be fairly good at restoring old, beat up clubs. Especially older, persimmon woods. Might be something there. Anyhow, my 2 cents... xOldBenKenobiX
I have never tried to make money, the margins are too low. I have bought and sold plenty of clubs, usually I buy them, and try, I end up selling if it is a club that I ultimately don't like. But as a sidle hustle, it is not for me. on the past I have been very fortunate cruising thru garage sales, I have found some great clubs that were in my bag for a few seasons. txgolfjunkie
It's one of those where you'll flip a dozen clubs and one will make you a good chunk of money, a couple will get you a few bucks and then you're lucky to break even on the rest. You really do have to find great deals, ensure there's still demand for that club, and then find the buyer who is willing to pay your price for it. That can get maddening at times. Tack on shipping and selling fees if you use big platforms to get more eyes on your products and it will eat into your profits. I have a feedback of 236 on eBay and most of that is from club flipping. The addition of children to the household has really slowed down the flipping business. It can be done, but you really need to find deals at flea markets, estate/garage sales, and online BST sites. 6 Quote Cobra Connect 5 Competitor - Team Chad King Radspeed 10.5* w/ Hzrdus RDX Blue 60 6.5 tipped 1/2" - Peacoat/Red King Radspeed Big Tour 3 Wood w/ Hzrdus RDX Blue 70 6.5 Tipped 1/2" King Radspeed Tour 5 Wood w/ Motore X F1 70 X Flex King Utility 4 21* w/ Tensei Pro White 100 X Flex King Tour MIM Copper Irons 5-G w/ AMT White X100 Onyx King MIM Black Wedges 55* & 60* w/ AMT White X100 Onyx Spider SR Pro V1x Left Dash Lefty Link to comment
edingc
Another thing to consider is that because of all of the COVID-related restrictions in place, golf is currently experiencing a huge uptick in number of rounds, and, presumably, players. Lot of people had nothing better to do so they went out and bought clubs - I'm sure that's made flipping clubs on Facebook marketplace easier than six or eight months ago. Whether that uptick and demand continues is the big question. 3 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 6.7 / Anti-Cap: 12.8 (Last Updated Oct. 13, 2022) Driver: Callaway Epic Max LS (9°), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Club Champion Fitting 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", UST Mamiya Recoil 110 F5 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. These replies don't give me tons of hope of becoming the next 2nd Rock 3balls Bottom Swing Golf The key for them is getting last years driver from you on “trade” for $150 and being able to sell it on the used market for $250. Also, they get a decent margin on some of the new items they sell. I don’t think it would be profitable long term to just hunt and sell used clubs, but could be a good secondary source of income to add to the golf budget. And where/how you've successfully found clubs. Thanks I do not buy them to resell, I usually keep them. In stores like Burlington, Marshals and TJ Maxx, I find crazy good deals in golf shoes, polos, shorts and pants. I pay between 19.99 and 29.99 This adidas, were 29.99, I still game them For this nike's I paid 24.99, I got 4 pairs in different colors, I gifted 3 and kept 1. I got this Nike's for my son for 19.99 I've also seen a lot of UnderArmour golf shoes, just not wide enough for my feet. I cant begin to tell you how many shirts and shorts I got. I just saw this GFORE for 24.99, they did not have my size, also TJ Maxx is starting to get plenty of polos and pants from GFore There is a market for them, if you are looking to buy and re sell on eBay or Facebook market. Been shopping there since the 90s. Used to trade clubs all the time just to try something new.
