Yeah, for sure. I'm not a huge fan either, and was getting a little tired of the "Bryson is demolishing every course" story line, especially when he wasn't actually dominating anybody. Just had a few tournaments of really good golf, but I was worried they were just going to keep riding the look at how far he hits it media trend for the rest of the year. Not complaining that it's not!

The format of the playoff is non issue if you just play well and consistent all the time.

I said a few weeks ago prior to the final round of the PGA, Koepka’s condescending comments may just light a fire under DJ’s ass. A motivated DJ is sure fun to watch.

Really happy to see DJ get the win. He gets a lot of flak for the lack of majors on his resume but he's as good a player out there. Nice to see him add the FedEx Cup to his trophy case.

+1. He was clutch when he had to be, a well earned win. DJ has dominated for three weeks now almost winning all three TC events.

Just not overly excited about this tournament -I preferred the points format that this one replaced but even then I was never a huge fan.

There are four majors along with the Players and WGC events. This one just seems meh and doubly so with a US Open and Masters still to play.

Having written that Johnson played great from what I saw.

Agreed on all accounts. The whole “playoff” format has always seemed contrived to me. Not to mention, a complete money grab!

Nothing will ever rise to the level of the majors. Not even the Players or WGC’s. And those feel bigger than anything else on Tour, including the FedEx Cup.

With that said, DJ has had an impressive month after being lost in the wilderness at The Memorial and 3M.

Agreed. I've never cared less about a tournament and hardly watched any of it. I did at least tune in for the final few holes to see if DJ would actually let someone catch him.

They were better off with the points system even if it did make it possible to have two winners during the tournament like in 2018. If they want to stick with the current system and give some sort of advantage to the guys with all the points then just give strokes to each of the top-5 players (up to 5 strokes). Then, take strokes away from the bottom-5 players to create more incentive for better play. Start everyone else at even par and see who takes the cake, but don't gift it to the guy at the top of the FedEx Cups Points list. If they're going to do that then why have a tournament at all?

In general, I am not a fan of contrived drama created for playoff events, but I still find these events fun, just because of the $$$ involved. I found it odd that there did not seem to be the usual focus on the money by the announcers.

In the end I agree, but I don’t miss the expense account drunks yelling baba booey, get in the hole and the other airhead catcalls. And the occasional hecklers. I wish they’d consistently throw them out, but that won’t happen - if all tournaments become WMPO I probably won’t keep watching. YMMV

I totally agree.  The format affects the way players attack the course IMO.  DJ knows that he only has a handful of players that he has to beat,   and the guys at the bottom take risks on holes that they wouldn't if it were a normal tournament.  The fact that these 30 players got into the TC shows that they deserve a better chance to win.

Still a nice win for DJ, but the tournament should not have been played before majors are over.

I don't know the answer to the question of how you might make this tournament both competitive and meaningful without distorting its value over and against the rest of the tournaments on the schedule.  It seems ridiculous to me that the guy who comes in with a lead might finish in the top 5 and not be the Fed Ex champion.  Plus its played on the same course each year.  What if a top players game just doesn't fit?  With the exception of the Masters this would never be an issue in the Majors because they use a variety of different courses. 

I guess it just is what it is.  I'm going to live with it - I enjoyed the golf that I saw but am really looking forward to the golf that I will see in two weeks and extremely excited about what the Master's will look like in November.

In my opinion, the answer can be found by observing Formula 1. In several different aspects but especially through a season long race to the championship.

Also, I firmly believe golf needs a proper offseason.

Yes. I love golf, but this wrap-around season is just plain dumb. All it does IMO is give players who normally don't finish well a chance to keep their tour card, but I say if you can't hack it during the regular season then make room for more guys graduating from the Korn Ferry Tour.

If there is a Tour Championship, it should be the last tournament of the season, like most sports.  The next season shouldn't start the next week.

So, I'm confused (not unusual really).  Did we have the Tour Championship before the end of the season?  Doesn't next season start this week at the Safeway Open?   We have two majors coming up later this year after the 2021 season kicks off but belong with 2020 season events after the Tour Championship?  Or do we have two US Opens and two Masters in the 2021 season?  Help this old guy out!

I heard a comment over the weekend that the 2021 season will technically have 6 majors and it does indeed start with the Safeway Open. At least that's my recollection as I generally try to ignore the announcers.

I get that 2020 is an aberration but to me they really need to have an "off season" Including the fall in the following years season is tough. IMO
