Help with shafts!

Just reading the Title makes me smile.  I was fitted over 10 years ago and ended up with S300 shafts.  I am getting myself a birthday gift and new irons are on the list.  I am going to go hit a bunch of irons in a couple of weeks and looking for a little direction with new shafts.  My swing speed and overall swing is the same but I am now seeing other options like Nippon or KBS.  I hit the ball mid to high with my irons so just trying to get a feel of what would be on par with the S300.

Try them all! Nowadays OEM's carry a huge line of no-upcharge shafts and you sure will find something that fits your swing. Definitely more options than 10 years ago.

If you want something “on par” with the existing shaft just get the S300 again. I would suggest experimenting with shafts first see if something feels and performs better than you existing shaft. If not the dynamic golds are good shafts.

If you are going to get fit, then clearly I don't think you can go wrong with what the fitter says.  My new clubs(Feb 2020) were a gift to MYSELF as well.  While I didn't have a complete fitting as far as that goes, I splurged on my gift to me, and went with KBS C Taper lite.  While I'm not a track man/numbers cruncher type of golf guy, I can only say they are very nice, I would give some KBS's a look.  Good Luck

KBS and Nippons are great option for sure. I also currently play S300s as well and I would agree with others to try them all as heads will be a bit different now and the S300 might not work with the head that works best. Good luck with the fit!

I know you are probably comfortable with the S300's, but DON'T BE AFRAID TO TRY NEW AND DIFFERENT SHAFTS. I think you might be surprised by the feel and performance of the lightweight shafts that are made these days. Enjoy the experimentation; it's a big part of the fun for me!

If youre looking for DG-similar performance, I'd suggest the Modus 125.  It's a similar weight, and I believe profiles similarly.  The Modus 120 is like a caricature version of DG, with a noticably softer butt section and slightly softer tip, while also profiling about a flex softer.

If you're adventurous, there's always the Nippon Super Peening Blue.  They can still be found here and there.  Have them in one of my sets, they're quite lovely.

Just a couple Nippon options....
