I'm sorry I missed this when it was posted. How in the world does it only have (now) two comments and five reactions?! This might be the finest review ever posted in the MyGolfSpy Forums. I know I'll be pointing future reviewers to it as a model for years to come.

Kudos to you, @Finky999, for drawing attention back to this fine piece of work.

The review is like a fine wine, it needed to age some to be best before consuming.

I've kept the bag out of direct sunlight and away from open flames, I would say they look basically identical to pre seal breaking.

finally, a golf tee that scores a 10 on ground poking. I have been concerned with that and have found price does not always equate to poke-ability.
@thin2win. I think we need to know more about the poke-ability testing. How does it do on really hard ground. I often experience conditions during droughts or winter where I need a small hammer to get the tee fully inserted in the ground. During these situations I often use partial tees to get the right height. How hard of a surface did you test this in?

I'll see if I can get some more substantiated poking in this week and get back to you.

@cnosil @GolfSpy MPR

I've had the chance to follow up on some of your questions about poke-ability. And, I've even gone a few steps further.

I do think these tees are especially pokey. The tips are shaper than most.

But in effort to find out how sharp and if they will work for your courses teeing area I've tested a few areas around my course.

Is your tee box made of wood? These tees will poke western cedar :20201101_135716.jpg.618f8489ec75dfd96b5eb2d0bd948106.jpg

Are your tees very sandy? You are in luck!

20201101_142701.jpg.d2af870495eee5d93654449a50d54e97.jpg

Do you often find yourself teeing up in a shrubbery?

20201101_135051.jpg.4c466e758706a652e098940a884ddf5c.jpg

Has your course recently been overrun by fungi?

20201101_134153.jpg.ad7881235b37dd1fc407931f4c616ae9.jpg

Do you think your tees are as hard as concrete? No match for the Vice Tee!

20201101_133938.jpg.618e3a9b4b60f098ad84c67da5855aa6.jpg

Now, I'm not going to say that the tee cannot be defeated. In my testing I found that both tee markers and yardage markers too tough to get a good poke.

20201101_134100.jpg.54f22133baf2af43b78ba8382e497199.jpg20201101_134038.jpg.5fa32a8c48377e4951cc97f29d93d3be.jpg

But the tees do float, I didn't find any mention of that on the Vice website.

20201101_135243.jpg.cc99efc41a5bf5aada0305a6eecabd01.jpg

I also preformed a test on their ability to determine teeing order for a 4-some. I found them to be a little light for my preference to toss, but they did spin in a spinny fashion while in the air and land pointing in directions that would generally indicate who was to tee off next.

I hope this helps in your quest for that perfect tee.

Side note, they still break on nearly every swing, so their cost per round is above industry average. So, there is that.

If @Tony Covey MGSwill let me borrow some really fancy test equipment I can test for true shape consistency and cup depth Concavity (made up word?)

Do you happen to know if they make a left-handed version? Too many times those of us who stand on the right side of the ball get left out.

You poor neglected soul. If I woke up left handed tomorrow I could likely learn to golf standing over there, but I'd forever be defeated by clothing zippers. I don't know how you all do it.

But luckily for you, my wife is left handed so I asked her to see if these tees would work for her. For some reason she thought this was about the dumbest request I've ever made. But for science she attempted it.

Shockingly enough, they work just fine. I was surprised for one. But it seems you are in luck. First a left dash ball from Titleist, now a tee that works for lefties. Next thing you know Ping of going to create a lefties only Forged cavity blade driver.

Just a little clarification:

1)  I'd have to have a soul in order for it to be neglected, so I'm not really that.  I do appreciate the sympathy, though.

2)  It's not the zippers, it's the buttons and snaps that'll get you.  (Also, the constant ink smear on your left hand from using a pen and trying to find a pair of scissors that will work for you.)

3)  I already have the Ping Forged Cavity Blade Driver, but it's not lefties-only.  Not only is it ambidextrous, it's also unisex so you and your wife could both use it.  See the picture.  It's amazing.

Well done!  Vice is really trying to take over that niche market and be full service from balls to tees.  The flashy colors and "culture" of the company align with a lot of different golfers.  Which is great!

The review you have all been waiting for, the Vice Tee.

Vice sells these right off their website with the following specifications.

  • Bamboo
  • Driver and iron length
  • Resealable bag
  • Color matching to Vice golf balls

So let's put those claims to the test, and put these tees in the ground.

Are they bamboo? Yes? They are definitely some kind of wood. I'll call this claim true enough.

Do they come in two lengths? Yes they do.

Is the bag resealable? It doesn't have a yellow and blue make green seal, but yes, it is resealable. And the seal works.

Do they really color match the golf balls?

Yes!

All Vice's claims check out. So let's take a deeper dive into these. You know there are a few things that a tee must do to be successful. So let's run through those things.

Does it fit in your pocket? Yes! These fit in my pocket easily 10/10

Does it poke in the ground? I was easily able to insert the tee into various turf conditions 10/10

Can it be used to clean to grooves of a grass laden iron? It does, but not as well as a wet towel or brush.  7/10

Does the ball easily stay on the tee? It can't compete with the likes of a MarTini. But the ball did stay securely on the tee during testing. 9/10

Can it survive more than 1 use? Moe Norman I am not, only 1 tee lasted for two uses, and it did not survive to be used a 3rd time. 2/10

I think that about wraps up the testing. My personal thoughts on them are that that "power fins" (my term, not Vice's) on the edges of the tee look nice but did not add 27 yards or straighten my tee shots. There was no claim that they would do either, but I was hopeful. The color matching is near perfect, and really, that is the only reason you would buy these.

So if you have been emotionally struggling on the tee because your golf ball did not match the tee you were using, these could solve that. Or if your current tee doesn't fit in your pocket, these will solve that problem too.

I was thinking the same thing before I clicked on this thread.  Really?  Its a tee. LOL  Im glad to see Vice branching into other things but youre never going to sell me on giving up my wooden tees.

Yea, not sure how I missed this one either.  Great review Chris!  This is what's great about making new, younger friends on the PNW Spy Tour, they have all the latest gadgets 😍.  Last year, I was riding the "One Wheel" (not well mind you, but I did stay off my a$$).  I also got a live demonstration of the Finn Cycle while we played our round at Indian Canyon and got to take it for a ride around the parking lot. I'm now the proud owner of a hand-me-down Shotscope V2 🙂.

So what immediately struck me about the Vice Tee's was what appeared to be a novel curved shape. I guess its just a marketing play on the alligator teeth... which has me asking "what's the connection with an alligator"?  Does bamboo even grow in alligator country?  Did the owner of Vice have a run in with Chubb's?

I think Vice needs to start giving me a commision. I just checked and all tees all colors are sold out. Obviously, my supperiour review skills have boosted this tee to the top of the demand list. lol.
